Jim Vuksic | 96 comments Author Harper Lee, now 88 years old, has only one published novel. To Kill a Mocking Bird was published in 1960 and sold 40 million copies. A movie of the same title starred Gregory Peck.

Ms. Lee actually wrote a novel titled Go Set a Watchmen before she wrote To Kill a Mocking Bird, but never submitted it for publication. Even though Go Set a Watchman was written first, it is actually the sequel to To Kill a Mocking Bird.

The main character in To kill a Mocking Bird was a lawyer named Atticus Finch. However, it is narrated by his young daughter, as seen through her eyes. The young girl's name is Jean Louise Finch, but everyone, including her father, always calls her "Scout".

Jean Louise,is the main character in the sequel. It takes place 20 years after the story in To Kill a Mocking Bird, so "Scout" is now all grown up.

Go Set a Watchman will be published by Penguin Random House which plans to initially release 2 million copies.

Brandon (sholundil) To Kill a Mockingbird was written before I was born so I can say that I have been waiting for this book my whole life. Want to see were Harper Lee takes this character 20 years onto the future. Will scout be a 1950's housewife doing her housework in pearls like Donna Read or will she be a rebel at odds with society? 1950's Alabama is a great setting - Klan activity, the beginning of the civil rights movement, Elvis shaking his pelvis on TV, TV and household appliances... the list goes on. How is scout going to react to all of this and most the most important question of all, IMO, what ever happened to Boo Radley.

Mariel Grey | 125 comments All good questions! Everything was portrayed so perfectly in the 1950's and it's such a time for nostalgia for people. Wonder if there will be a social issue which "rips the scab" off.
