Turns out Ty is Annie’s third cousin and is investigating her suicide as a murder. He also didn’t believe she was pregnant by her boyfriend. Did his theory seem viable at the time he shared his true goal with Sam? Was there ever a point where you suspected her stepfather?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) Yes, it seemed immediately that Ty was spot on with his suspicions. No I didn't suspect the step father, but I later on I did suspect that her brother was an abuser and probably the murderer. Really horrible.

Lynn (ftbooklover) I agree with Lisa about the brother.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1812 comments The stepfather had a strong alibi, so I ruled him out quickly.
My prime suspects for Annie's murder were her boyfriend and her brother. The incest angle became clear once Ty explained that the boyfriend could not be the baby's father.

I never saw the incest angle at all. Completely blew by me so kudos to all of you.

I swallowed the stepfather red herring after learning he and Estelle divorced soon after Annie’s death.

I believed Ty’s theory right away because Annie’s “suicide” made no sense to me, nor did blaming Sam for having a role in it.

Yes, the whole "Kent transferring his guilt and blame onto Sam and calling her a whore/prostitute" didnt' really make sense. She was very much an outsider to what was going on in their twisted family. But I guess he was so disturbed he was looking for anyone to blame instead of himself.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments I bought his theory. I couldn't see why she would commit suicide.

The brother slipped under my radar. I was sure it was the step father. Looking back, I think I was lead down that path because another book I finished recently had an abusive step father. I guess it was still on my mind.

I have no excuse😏

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments I thought the stepfather, maybe for a minute or two. But, John was built and handsome, that didn't jive with a older man. Like Jonetta, I was reluctant to think about the brother and incest, but with the blood types, there was no other possible person.
