Samantha (Sam) Leeds returns from her disastrous Mexico trip to some troubling phone messages and a feeling of unease in her own home. Did David cross your mind or were you already making connections to “John?”

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) David didn't seem a strong enough character to be the serial killer. He seemed kind of insipid from Sam's descriptions and thoughts.

Lynn (ftbooklover) It was so early in the story, that I suspected everyone. In this type of story, if the author goes for a twist, then it could end up being anyone.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1812 comments There were many potential suspects. So many people in Sam's life had questionable attitudes toward her. That said, David was pretty low on my suspect list.

I have no explanation for why David didn’t show up as a strong suspect in my mind from the start. I did, however, believe he might have had something to do with the boat incident.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments I took David as a person who was full of himself, but I didn't think he was the murderer. I'm not sure why because he could be if the story went in another direction.

For me, it was because he was with Sam in Mexico when the defaced photo was sent. I know he could have sent it from Mexico, but this just didn't jive with his personality.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments I never suspected David. He was with her in Mexico and I just didn't feel him for the murderer or someone who would threaten Sam just to get her to come back to him. Like Sharon said, he was just to full of himself.
