We are reading a very current Weird book now for the month of May. Does anyone wish to recommend some classic Weird titles for reading in June. I'll run a poll starting May 15 if we have enough candidate books to choose from.

I nominate F. Marion Crawford's Uncanny Tales. Crawford is an early Weird writer, American oddly enough, and is the second author mentioned in VanderMeer's Weird anthology, which printed his "The Screaming Skull" (1908). The specific book I like is Tartarus Press's version, available here: http://www.tartaruspress.com/crawford.... I am not sure what five pounds for the e-book will work out to in U.S. currency, but I'm sure it's less than $10.

Would anyone else like to nominate other Weird titles for next month's classic weird read? I'll run a poll about May 15.

I nominate Fengriffen & Other Gothic Tales.
I nominate Fengriffen & Other Gothic Tales.Fengriffen is a Gothic novella that came out in the 1970s, republished by Valancourt. I think the novella is marvelous.

What I'll do when it's time to make a new poll for next month's read at the middle of the prior month is come to this discussion topic and the "Other Weird fiction I am currently reading" topic. From these I'll take the five or so best-looking books members recommend, nominate, are interested in, or are talking about reading, and make a poll for us from that.
Let's try this for a while and see how it works out. If anyone thinks this is a bad idea or has a suggestion for a modification, please post it here for discussion. I'd certainly consider other ways to do business. I just see the advantage of this one as being people can nominate books whenever they come across or think of one by posting it here. Then their job is done, making things easier for all members.
