Kristin | 6 comments I can basically remember the entire plot line but not the character names or title.
This young woman, about 20 or older is house sitting for an older rich couple. They told her that they didn't want anyone to know they weren't there so she pretended to live there, and she wasn't allowed to have anyone in the house but her best friend. She also had to take care of a small dog. While walking the dog she saw this guy, turns out he ends up being famous and the more she sees him and talks to him the closer they get, but she never tells him she is just house sitting. Well, her mom is a major meany and she has a younger brother who lives with her mom which is the only reason she has anything to do with her. She was suppose to meet them for dinner and her mom gave her a time limit that if she wasn't there at that time she wasn't invited. Her car broke down and she had to ask the neighbor. Well, he ends up going with her and they eat dinner. The main thing I remember about this book is that she hates turkey gravy because her mom made her eat an entire bowl of it and when they passed the gravy at this dinner the guy used all of it so she didn't have to eat it.
At some part of the book he thinks she is just using him to get pictures or money because that's already happened and him and his friend tie her up in the basement to get answers. Needless to say it's a huge misunderstanding and it starts major problems.
Hopefully this is enough. Thank you so much for the help!

Tab (tabbrown) | 5084 comments Kristin, how many years ago did you read this?
Genre: romance, mystery, etc?
Part of a series?
Anything about the cover?
Time period/location story takes place?

Kristin | 6 comments It's a romance for sure. I'm pretty sure I read it early last year. It's a stand alone. At least when I read it is was. It's set in the same year it was written and I'm not sure the town/city place, but I know that most of the book is a gated community. I want to say the main character recently graduated and is trying to find a job and until then doing odd jobs but I can't remember that much detail.

Kristin | 6 comments Oh, and it isn't y.a. it's a adult romance, well, college veered romance.

MJ | 1617 comments Sorry, just out of sheer curiosity...cause I know I've never read it...yet.

Was it a humorous book? Sound like it might be an almost series of comical trip ups along the lines of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich...

Kristin | 6 comments Some parts of it was. The best friend did some funny things. The neighbor was famous and the best friend found out they were talking so, for the main characters she made this fan girl poster as a gag.
I'll check those and see if anything turns up. Thanks for giving me anything. This is really irritating. I'm usually able to remember them so easy but this one is giving me a headache.

Kristin | 6 comments I think it is more contemporary than a romantic comedy.

MJ | 1617 comments I know what you mean. This group has made my brain lazy. Usually I can find a book within a few hours (a day a the most) of thinking of a scene. I either just keep it churning in the back of my mind and the title slots into place, or I just run my eye over the covers, an the relevant one grabs me. Since I found this site (after struggling to remember only one)... I've now got 5 that I can't figure out for the life of me! It's driving me mad 

Kristin | 6 comments Just this one. I look through amazon on the daily anyway, but now I have a specific reason. The more I read other descriptions the I remember about the book I'm looking for.

Melissa's suggestion of Unbelonging looks very promising. If the publisher's description isn't enough, scanning the first few pages of Amazon's Look Inside preview will probably tell you one way or another.
