soo...... it's kind of like on the day of judgement all you good deeds and your bad deeds are weighed up so the more you pray the more good deeds you have on your balance?
And for people who memorise the whole Quran, they will be told to recite it and for every verse they recite they advance one level in Heaven

My bestie IRL was scolded to death by her grandpa coz she was about to step out of the house without hijab.

It was so nice to read this whole thread! I actually never knew about the real reason for wearing hijab, but I knew it wasn't compulsory. I just never questioned it. So that was very interesting!

I’ll just add a bit of history/context anyway

During the time of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, obviously there weren’t proper toilet systems because it was the late 7th century in the desert (sounds random but I’m getting to the point) during the night, if a woman needed to use the toilet she’d have to go to the outskirts of Madinah (the city they were living in) and ‘do her business’. Some men saw this as an opportunity, and begin to attack these women - and they wouldn’t be recognised because it was night. The thing was, they could tell the difference between the richer women and the servants, as the richer women wore more modest clothing, and they knew not to attack them because there was more of a chance that they would be reported.

This issue was taken to the Prophet SAW, and the verse “draw your garments upon yourselves” was revealed. By covering themselves up, the men wouldn’t know the difference between the richer and poorer women. So, it originally existed to protect women from assault.

The hijab has a much broader meaning though. The main one that everyone knows is to dress modestly, but this applies to men too. It also refers to lowering your gaze. It can even refer to your action as and intentions.
