Umm ig it changes for everyone! I realised when I like both Jude and Cardan in Cruel prince lol. And also when I watch a movie or something, sometimes i like both the male and female lead.
But at the end...its what you feel ur comfortable with! Being bi doesn't always mean 50-50 for me. It changes

Different people realise it differently.
I really really like my best friend. Firstly I brushed it off as platonic but with time I realised it goes deeper.
She was also the first person I came out to..
I like both men and women but prefer men.
As Nashita already said it's NOT 50-50.
For me it's roughly like,
men:women :: 75:25

Someone I know, realised they're bi after making out with their friend.
Another person knew it because they liked watching bi, lesbian p*rn
