just think about gender reveals for unborn babies. if it's a girl, people pop balloons filled with pink confetti or eat cupcakes with pink frosting while for boys everything is blue

Also, what if the baby ends up being transgender?
What if they end up being nonbinary?

But the worst of them all is "that's what little girls and boys made of" song. It's so full of prejudice and stereotypes and is the most biased song I've ever heard

Marie | 1726 comments since we are already talking about sexism, you know what i also hate? the mindset that girls can't carry heavy things. i encountered it some days ago again and realised once more how messed up this world is...

Ash (inkwordsandash) (inkwordsandash) | 5364 comments Ahh yes, that stereotype is so irritating!!

Ash (inkwordsandash) (inkwordsandash) | 5364 comments Especially in movies when they show 'nerdy' helpless girls carrying a ton of books. Be realistic, if someone can carry the entire ASOIAF, LOTR, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson series in their arms they could probably be one of the strongest people in school!!
books are heavy, lol!

I KNOW
okay, I have a feminist rant (sort of related to this):

So basically at my school, my ( and my friends) gym teacher is sexist. These are some of the things he did:

- He always picks cisgender males as team captains
-He calls the female students in our class 'the girls' as if we do not have names
-cisgender male students are constantly being rude to female and nonbinary students, the teacher never does anything about this(my friend who is in another class but has the same teacher said that she had a similar experience)

there are more examples of his sexism
My friends and I wrote a letter to the principal about it. She said that she would deal with it over the summer, so idk what she is gonna do :/

Marie | 1726 comments my experience on friday was the following:

i have played the piano for almost 8 years and we had a little concert. not big, only like the 6 people my teacher has on that day. afterwards, we are stacking the chairs we used. i am about to stack a 4th one on my 3 chairs that i'm carrying already and this 12 or 13 year old boy comes up to me (mind you, i am 17!) and is like, hey, should i carry it? and i was just THANKS, but i can manage.

i know he meant no harm and only wanted to help but it's still baffling that a 12 year old boy thinks he can/should carry more than a 17 year old girl

boys are told from young age that it's proper manners to not let a women or girl carry anything. it's terrible. there used to be a point in my life where I was told not to do push ups, cause it made me muscular, and apparently girls are not supposed to have muscles

this is such an illogical concept. also, why shouldn't women have muscles? this nicely connects to beauty standards for women - slim and toned but never strong or muscular...

Nash (all too unwell) (iambecomeabladee_n) | 8087 comments The boys in my school always assume the girls can't do anything. And they alwaysss assume they're just better at sports
And one day when we beat them in a game of kho kho they shut their mouths🥳

You should see their expressions whenever I beat them in a running race. Their mouths are almost as big as their egos

message 1844: by 1xrr (new)

1xrr (israfazyl) | 56 comments The title has attracted me ... (also a feminist, here) Wow all of that sounds terrible. I don't actually experience a lot of sexism, but it's still there - mostly in the little things. Like, one day our teacher she asked students one by one to read something on the screen (boys and girls) and my friends and I couldn't help but notice how she was always raining praise on the boys but only saying "good" "ok" or just nothing at all when the girls read it.
we got so mad, we ranted about it in our group chat. I'm still mad about it tbh. I used to really like that teacher but not anymor.

message 1845: by 1xrr (new)

1xrr (israfazyl) | 56 comments it's very minor like I said, but anyway

its not minor... its one thing when a man doesn't support the cause but its another thing when a woman doesn't. It hurts when whom you look up to tears you down
