THEY WONT' FIX IT!!! Only Guillermo del Toro sensei could have fixed such a cool concept, I love love the fold, the volcra, the sea whip, and the darkling. Del Toro sensei would have made the volcra win, the darkling nuanced and the amplifier creatures cooperate instead of getting killed. He would have eliminated Mal and bring the crows front and center. 80% chances it'll flop and that's sad cuz I love love love Ben Barnes.
I want them to leave it exactly as the book is.. but they wont... I rather have Mal more likable ... you can see they went with a different look...then destroy the whole character of the Darkling
I'll watch it no matter what BUT I do hope they don't change anything because I love loving the bad guy. I never really cared about Mal

Have you finished the trilogy? I'm going to post a spoiler ahead so beware of the spoiler tag.(view spoiler) If they stick to the book, villain-lover watchers will be really angry.

I only have Netflix for "La Casa de Papel" I was slightly curious when I saw Ben Barnes in full costume but then I read an interview with the director, he wants to include a lot of Malina kissing in season two. I'm not gonna watch season 1 and can't care less for season 2.
I just finished reading the Shadow & Bone trilogy and have barely begun Six of Crows. I've also watched the first few episodes of the series. So far I can say I'm really disappointed in how little whimsy and nuance it has. The heavy Russian inspiration is barely there, the lore isn't properly established and the characters don't have good characterizations (Genya especially comes to mind). The special effects are cool, but it's like watching a period drama with a few fantasy elements and not a full fledged fantasy. Again, zero whimsy.
Not to be off topic here but i just finished the first 8 episodes and was wondering how closely they followed the books?

The series was a mash up of Shadow and bone trilogy and Six of crows duology. In my opinion, they deviated too much from the best Grisha series, Six of crows, and didn't deviate enough from the lesser series that was Shadow and Bone. I wish it had been the other way round. Making Alina the center of the Crows heist plot overstates her chosen one status and every YA adaptation outside potter that forces the chosen one angle fails at the box office. I wonder those who didn't read the books weren't you thrown back by Nina and Mathias? it's like they weren't introduced well.
Mal is definitely not as unlikable as he was in the book, but he still feel like a forced presence, probably more than in the books, in my opinion. I wanted the series to deviate from the book and be all about Alina accepting her dark side and maybe ending up alone at the end of a 3rd season that I doubt will ever happen. Heroine choosing to be alone it's something that has never been done before.

I actually read the Crooked Kingdom series 4 years ago but was very confused in the show because I barely remembered anything. I thought Crooked Kingdom started with Kaz already having lost the bar....
Any idea how many seasons they're supposed to make when they're combining them?
I can barely remember the books but apparently, I have it on my e-reader as read so, it must be so.I saw the first couple of eps of the show but I'm already heavily routing for the darling, the Mal thing seems awkward and I really, really hope they won't force it to happen.
The acting is good tho. Ben Barnes <3

You'll be lucky if you get a second season. Bridgerton (based on R-rated stuff) got steady numbers for weeks, but shadow and bone (based on lame PG13) got out of the netflix top 5 fast. Maybe it'll improve! Or maybe they have spent so much money by now that they think only a second season will get them their money back, but netflix should get the memo: PG 13 IS OUT!! Bring on the ACOMAF SEX AND GORE!!!
To clarify the nielsen numbers in billion of view for the first week are AWESOMETACULAR but the drops in views are also big and they are taking too long in announcing the second season! They'll do it probably but S&B is not at the level of other Netflix fantasy's like the witcher.

I did, actually. The TV show is better.
I have not read the books yet, but I did really enjoy the s first season on Netflix. (I will still enjoy reading the books…I’m sure). ;)
Not to rub salt on fans wounds but notice how Virgin River, Squid Game, The Witcher and Bridgerton, in other words things based on Adult/New adult themes went viral and Shadow & Bone tone down for younger audiences barely scraped some viewers. Netflix won't miss that so I hope that means Johanna Lindsey and Lisa Kleypas books are next. And with a little luck a series based on The Four horsemen. I can't wait!!

The majority of the Grisha fandom hates the H of the series Mal Orestev and loves the villain The Darkling played by Ben Barnes
Do you think they can mend the story to redeem The Darkling and make Mal a likable character? Are you going to watch?
No spoilers.
