Yes, "Mikey liked it."

However, I first heard an Alan Grant mystery on audiobook where the reading and the story worked for me at a 5 star level. Sure, there are coincidences in this book, which some dislike; true, they can be a bit of a weakness, but in this instance I didn't mind one whit. I like Tey's writing and the voice she used, etc.

In short--a man is murdered while standing in line to go to the pit to see the very last performance of a play. He had no identification on him, so Inspector Alan Grant has little to go on, other than the murder weapon (devoid of prints), the contents of the victim's pocket and the testimony of a few in the line.

This was one of the first books Tey ever had published--her first two were both in 1929 and I am not going to search out which was first, because it's not really relevant in the sense that this is basically her writing at a debut level--she got better (based on the other one I have listened to, The Daughter of Time, which has a higher average rating, but not her highest.).
