SOLVED. Help!

Okay, I think this is a book but I cannot remember a lot about it! So it’s a love story about this girl that moves to the beach with her father. She meets a boy that loves right next door in a big house. Turns out that the boy is trust passing and living in someone else’s house. The owner finds out and the police are called right as the girl and boy are in the middle of having sex. The boy goes to prison and tells the girl not to wait for him and to get a degree and date. She does all of that but picks him up years later when he gets out of prison.

I hope I am mixing a bunch of different books or movies all together! I have been wracking my brain and I cannot remember! Someone please help!
