HiIf you still need people I would be interested in taking a look, your summary reminds me a little of the Wounded Guardian by Duncan Lay. I'm looking for beta readers for my fantasy novel Beast of Glass 130k too
Kyla, i meant to say let's swap the first chapter to see if it's a good match. Email me directly, so that I can reply? If we see it's a match, let's exchange questions and get to reading.
Vit,Your story sounds exciting and mine has a dragon, too! I'm looking for swaps for my current MS is "The Horse with No Name,” a futuristic adult sword-and-world fantasy, complete at 140k words. I don’t have an agent and will pursue traditional publishing.
A brief blurb: Ben Reyes is foraging in the jungles of Paraise when he comes across a lost horse carrying a map. If Marrie Qi, fresh from college where she studies arcane, has translated its text correctly, the map leads to a buried vault with great "celestial power." Before Ben can think about it, he and the wizard-in-training he adores are sailing into the hinterlands with a smith’s apprentice (his friend) and a rogue smuggler (her friend), chased by a squad working for powerful organized crime lords. This is planned to be the first of a trilogy in which Ben and his friends, at the behest of a local deity, help humanity reclaim their place in the stars.
My most recent reads include The Expanse #6, NK Jemisin’s The City We Became, and Cherie Priest’s Bloodshot. My most recent favorite books include The Burning God, Machine, The Priory of the Orange Tree, The Relentless Moon, and Architects of Memory. Books that define me? King's Gunslinger, CJ Cherryh's Cyteen, Gaiman's American Gods, KS Robinson's Three Californias, but I've also loved lately reading Leckie, Adeyemi, Doctorow, Bacigalupi, Valdes, Chakraborty, N.K. Jemisin, and others.
Email tonchyaku-at-gmail-dot-com if you're interested. I'd suggest swapping a single chapter to start to see how we work together.

Lord Versos, Commander of the Fallen campaigns against the Vesna empire, has been retired because of a peace treaty. When a stranger brings terrible news of a Dragon that destroyed much of the empire in a matter of days, Lord Versos volunteers to investigate. In an entirely non-magical world, his travels unfold a plot of four magical creatures that have been controlling humankind for generations, driving four realms against each other in perpetual mutual destruction. Lord Versos decides it is time humans took control of their fate and builds a grand alliance against the monsters. He suspects other forces are at play pushing him to an unknown fate. As he learns more of the monsters, Lord Versos finds losing his touch with humanity, becoming something of a monster himself.
