I have had this book on my TBR for a long time, but there has always been something that has stopped me from picking it up. I tried really hard to like this book, but I didn’t quite get there. I enjoyed the parts of the book focused on the murder and the investigation, but as each chapter is written from a different perspective, and you only see that narrator’s perspective, it could be quite difficult to follow. There were also some chapters that, while they gave interesting information about culture, didn’t move the plot forward at all.

I liked this one better than you did. I'd agree that it was not an easy read. And, if I'm remembering correctly, the plot was secondary to the philosophical struggles of the characters. And secondary to the author's desire to play games with the standard novel. I have to be in a certain mood to enjoy that sort of book. I think I read this one at the right time.

You're right, the plot did seem secondary, and I think that was part of my problem with this one.
