I've never read the book, but could it possibly be Marco from The Night Circus? Just based on the wiki this looks like the closest

That one takes place in both the US and Europe based on the locations tagged in the book otherwise that would be my guess. I have very limited memories of this book

Ok after combing through the whole first 2 pages I have absolutely no idea. There are a few books that take place in Australia or Canada but most of them aren't fantasy-based. I guess one last thing would be to double check that England qualifies as "in Europe," since that would open it up a lot more if not.

I asked a few questions to see if we can rule out The Night Circus. On the wiki page it says his hands are : constantly stained with ink so I just asked that straight out and we will see

Ronan maybe? He also has blue eyes.. but I don't think he has magic.

Simon Snow? Not sure how old he was in Carry On though..
