Definitely Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, and Lord of the Flies is pretty good.

I think Little Women is on my TBR list. Thanks!

message 154: by Maya (new)

Maya Lord of the Flies was one of my only DNFs, i found it very slow

message 155: by Samiksha (new)

Samiksha Bhattacharjee (samiksha23) | 713 comments I want to read Lord of the Flies to see how it is

message 156: by Maya (new)

Maya yeah I might try to re read it again soon. The first time I attempted to read it was during a reading slump, so that might be the reason as to why I didn’t enjoy it

message 157: by The Jesus Fandom (new)

The Jesus Fandom (thejesusfandom) I already know humans are inherently bad, I don't need to spend 5 hours being annoyed by some obnoxious little boys to prove it

Oh! I'm reading the Inheritance Games right now!! It's so good! If you like that, I think you would like the Charlotte Holmes series by Brittany Cavallaro. Which is mystery too, and it's also really good and entertaining. I think it would help you out of a reading slump, maybe try it!!

You should try The Naturals. It’s pretty good.

Oh isn't that series also by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, the same author as the Inheritance Games? Good idea! I think I might want to read that too!

ikallam (bookcatforlife) YALL LIESTEENNN do any of yall have wierd teachers??? My teacher is an IDIOT ok?? Not to be rude to “elders“ or whatever but the guy is a TERRIBLE teacher. The class was queit for once and he be like“ GREAT JOB LETS KEEP UP THE SLNICE!!!“ he was ACTULLY yelling. And , as teenagers and normal human beings, we all started talking in the nxt 2 secounds. There are a TON of example where he thinks he is being cool and making a “ryme“ like “RESPCET THE SILNCE“ and he says it real deep and like its froma lyrics so u can just hear everyone saying it in the halway / and or somebody talk in class.

݁⋆๋⊹Amber⊹ ݁ ˖ | 1447 comments Mod
Lol. Um I have only officially changed it like twice. Occasionally I try out different things, but usually I stick with stuff for a while. My first ever pfp on goodreads was the aurora borealis. Then I changed it to a gatcha life version of me in a library that I made, and I had that one for a few more months, and recently I changed it again to be a deer-girl looking thing. So, I guess not too often.

Lolll i can't change my pfp coz of my author profile

message 172: by Maya (new)

Maya I’ve changed mine a few times. Originally I had it set as the book cover of the book I was reading at the time which was ‘A Darkness at Sethanon’ and then I think that I had it set to me in a strawberry hat for a few days. Then a picture with me and my guitar;) then a picture of me dressed as Wendy from The Shining for Halloween, and now I have it set as a picture from a painting I finished this time last year.

message 173: by Maya (new)

Maya @Samiksha, wait so will you ever be able to change your profile pic or do you have to keep it for the rest of the time that you have this goodreads account??

message 174: by Kayla (new)

Kayla | 67 comments Hey! So I joined this group not too long ago, how can you tell if someone replied to your comment/wrote something you haven’t seen yet? I’m sorta new so it’s saying a lot of the topics are unread. Is there a way to make everything read so I’ll only have the unread with new messages? This might make no sense, sorry ahaha

Dystopian classics are a good place to start, 1984 and Brave New World are good. Also Little Women, The Yellow Wallpaper, some Virginia Woolf (Orlando is a fun read and a good place to start with Woolf) can be good for getting into classics :)

message 181: by [deleted user] (new)

Quick question for everyone: What do you think about e-readers or kindles and such? I am so torn because I love paper but there is something also nice about my kindle

message 182: by Emma (new)

Emma Oh I absolutely LOVE my kindle!!

message 183: by ~ameliaclaire~, Co-President (new)

~ameliaclaire~ (ameliaclaire20) | 353 comments Mod
I prefer physical books. Mostly because if you read for hours on your kindle, it can hurt your eyes. One time, I was on my iPad for hours and I got a horrible headache and couldn’t see well for an hour. I had to take Tylenol for my headache because it was so bad.

message 184: by Maya (new)

Maya I think that kindles use a different type of light than an ipad/computer/phone tho, so that doesn’t happen. I could be wrong tho- I’ve never used a kindle.

message 185: by ~ameliaclaire~, Co-President (new)

~ameliaclaire~ (ameliaclaire20) | 353 comments Mod
It depends, if you use a paperwhite kindle, then your fine. But if you just use an Amazon kindle/tablet, then your eyes could be hurt. However, you can help with that by getting blue light glasses, they work really well.

Ooooh there are a lot of good books I could recommend but if you're looking for fantasy/drama/action/romance, I'd have to say try The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani, it's six books and it's really good! I found it very entertaining. Though I'm not sure how it would compare to SoC since I haven't yet read that, but it's near the top of my tbr. But anyway, you'll probably like TSfGaE either way :D
