Brooke Weaver Hello!

A documentary director with an Emmy-nominated Netflix series is developing a new feature documentary. "Self Published" is about the passion, persistence and self determination of self published authors.

We are interested in speaking with writers of all genres. We'd love to talk with writers who are just getting started as well as those who have been working at it for many years. We are not concerned about book sales. We're looking for individuals who have enormous drive and unbridled enthusiasm for writing and connecting with their readers.

Please send us a few lines about your writing (genre/genres,number of books you have self-published, highs and lows of your writing career). Please include a few notes about your personality and your life in general. Again, we'd love to hear from people who are extremely passionate about writing - so please include a few notes about the lengths you've gone to/sacrifices you've made in order to pursue your dream.

If you know other writers who you feel would be great for our documentary, we'd love to hear from them as well.

Thank you.
We look forward to hearing your story.

Michael Haddad | 2 comments Hi there,

I'm a 21 year old Canadian, first time author following the release of my novel Frostborn. I've used Ingramsparks as my primary publisher and secured the helped of a group called TellWell for other services.

I write YA Fantasy because I very much enjoy the world-building aspect of it all. It is always so amazing to see an entire realm be shaped and crafted by your very hands—to make the rules as you see fit.

My novel Frostborn is a typical fantasy story set in a frozen viking world. At a first glance, it's as if it's another Chosen One narrative, but unlike Harry Potter's "The Boy Who Lived" or Star Wars Anakin Skywalker, Frostborn's main character is stuck trying to decide whether he should embrace or fight his preset destiny. And the characters...fascinating and dynamic across the board!

Although I have minimal experience in the professional field, I've been writing for years, ever since I was 14 maybe 15. I honestly can't remember. My biggest challenge was having the confidence in myself to get up and do something about my writing. Traditional publishing fell flat after hearing radio silence after what felt like a thousand queries. So I grew determined to get myself out there whether it meant traditional route or not. That's why I stuck with Self-Publishing.

And it was a task. I went into knowing nothing, but at the end of the day, there was nothing else for me but growth from then on. I guess I could send an email to you, but replying here is much faster and it gives the opportunity for others to read a bit more about me.

Feel free to look up my Instagram @mhaddad_author

Or follow along on my Facebook https://www.facebook.com/mhaddadauthor

I'm excited to begin my career and I hope it starts rolling soon.

All the best,
Michael Haddad.
