Keep it current and active. It's important to stay on top of your blog/youtube. Keep it active and keep it interesting. Post/blog about your life, invite your followers/readers into your life. It keeps things interesting.

I'm a youtuber/booktuber and I would say to find a schedule of posting your videos and stick to it to show people you are serious about this and efficient! Also be sure to be active with the people watching and commenting on your videos! Respond to them and all that jazz.
