When Kim returns to her station, she looks back and has the following thoughts about the consequences of her separation from the team:

- Stacey had learned valuable lessons about teamwork, and had almost lost her life.
- Dawson had finally learned how to work alongside someone else.
- Bryant had learned that Dawson wasn’t quite the arsehole he’d thought.
- Her team meant a bloody great deal to her. More than they should. All of them.

Your thoughts? How is this going to change them, if at all, going forward?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments They all learned a lesson and a greater degree of respect for one another's skills. The main lesson they learned is they all contribute to the success of the team. They won't make these mistakes again. Like Kim, they know each member of the team means a great deal to all of them.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) Well said, Sharon.

It really bought home the meaning of teamwork and how all of them have a valuable part to play.

Another great instalment.

Lynn (ftbooklover) Knowing what we know about Kim's personality, I would worry about her pulling away from the group somewhat. She doesn't like getting this close to people. I guess we'll have to wait until the next book to find out.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments Kim's relationship with this team is professional. I don't see her pulling away professionally. Her career is too important to her. She wants her team to be successful and that requires her mentoring.

Bryant is the only member who comes to her home or meets with her outside of work--at this point anyway. I don't think Bryant will let her pull away from him as he is her touchstone when her past intrudes too much.

It will be interesting to see what happens next.

I agree that Kim’s relationship with the team is professional but this story pushed her more towards personal. She’s already in that zone with Bryant and her feelings toward Stacey border on maternal. She’s feeling tremendous pride in how Dawson is maturing.

I don’t think she will pull away but these personal feelings have got to be scary to her. Not sure how they will manifest themselves in future stories.
