Speaking of cool things to come 😊.
I just noticed how Netflix have made an adaptation of Leigh Bardugo's bestselling Grishaverse novels
.
I haven't read the book, or series, myself, but the official trailer looks very nice.
Definitely tuning in for this one. Releasing soon.

Autumn M. Birt and I are putting the finishing touches on the FIRST EVER story set in the world of Ylécium.
We can't wait to release this book and hear what you all think of it.
It was quite a challenge to write. We took it places you don't normally see. The main character is trapped from the beginning of the story. Unable to move and even speak.
As an author, it's quite a challenge when you can't share what the surroundings look like, what the character is doing (because he is basically paralyzed), and there's no one he can interact with.
A very different construct, but I think it ended up being a very interesting tale which you'll find very enjoyable. And you won't see the ending coming. At least, we hope not 😉.
The manuscript is on its way to the editor. Will be submitted in a day or so. Once it comes back, we'll send it to our second editor.
And then... it won't be long before we're back here posting about its release. Expect mid-April(ish).
But that's not all...!
I'm currently 60788 words into the first draft of book 1 of a brand-new fantasy series. Also set in the world of Ylécium.
About half-way through at the moment. Making great progress, but it'll take a while before Autumn M. Birt and I will release it.
You see, we plan to complete the first three books - in what will probably be a six book series - before we release even the first one.
Not going to speculate on timelines here as I'll probably be way off 😆. I'm usually too optimistic in judging when a book will be done.
Hence, we'll soon have something for you to read while you're waiting for the full series. And the best part is... we're going to make it available for FREE 🥳.
No spoilers here. I promise.
As mentioned on the podcast, I recently finished reading The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss and I said I would share some thoughts. So, I better do that.
First of all, what amazing writing.
The prose flows extremely well, great descriptions, and perhaps most importantly, the characters really draws you in.
There's an internal logic and motivation linked to all character actions. It's also a very likeable protagonist.
Interesting worldbuilding too. Which is always a very important factor for me personally. I love a great setting.
The magic system isn't a copy of what you've seen a million times before either, and as Autumn M. Birt and I always say: there should be a cost for using magic.
This is the case here as well.
I must admit that there is one thing I missed.
I like fantasy stories with a fairly quick pace and a bit of action sprinkled in.
There wasn't too much of that here. We're basically spending the most part of the novel with the character learning magic and growing as a person.
In principle there's nothing wrong with that. Many stories are structured like this, but it's not my favorite.
Admittedly, this is a highly subjective point of view, but that's the way it goes when it comes to books. What some like, others hate, and vice versa.
I'm very curious to hear your views though?
