Suzy - it's lovely to have you back. You have been doing quite well in absentia - good luck tonight.
Philip - I'm sure you're enjoying your 6 month old grand-daughter. A lovely age and Maeve is a beautiful name.
I'll prepare some tips for Blastro in case he doesn't get here in time.

Something my old man used to say a lot, and he did have quite a repertoire of odd phrases of which he used to express his disdain at some of the absurdities of life in his day! I guess some of them rubbed off on me! :)

All go at the moment. We got three big birthdays in the family over the next three weeks - 18, 21 and 50. Ahh, can't wait till my eighteenth! : )
Foe and Suze - I shall message you soon as. I have not forgotten yous, this be just a quick dash to put in me punt. Good to see ya back btw Suze.
And no folks, I haven't been at the marching powder. : )

The Finals season will go ahead as usual with Preliminary Finals and Semi-Finals leading up to the Grand Final. What has changed is that the AFL has canned the one week bye before the Finals start. This was introduced a few years ago to prevent those teams who were already through to the Finals effectively tanking in Round 23 by resting all their best players. But they have left the door ajar for a week off later in the Finals, either before or after the preliminary finals.
Where the Grand Final will be played is still up for debate. We are still in hard Lockdown 6.0 here in Victoria (9.00pm curfew, 5km radius from home for exercise and food/medical outings, schools closed, playgrounds roped off, etc. etc.) It is due to be reviewed on Sept 2 but with only 28% of the whole nation double vaccinated, it seems unlikely we will see a crowd at the MCG for the Grand Final and the AFL is unlikely to let it go ahead without a crowd. Brisbane is looking like the top contender to host.

That's a lorra birthday bumps Blastro! And given the ages..i imagine quite a few jars sunk too! Have fun! :)
And so too for Les....may she be making her own fun from beyond the veil.

Power had a goal disallowed, when the Bulldogs were on about 22 points, and had it been given would have evened up the scores a bit more. Listening to this game on ABC, nails taking a hammering!

From Wiki:
The AFL final eight system is an eight-team championship playoff tournament developed and adopted by the Australian Football League in the 2000 season. The eight teams, which are ranked or seeded in advance of the tournament, participate in a four-week tournament, with two teams eliminated in each of the first three weeks. The grand final is played in the fourth week between the two remaining teams, with the winning team awarded the premiership.
The system is designed to give the top four teams an easier road to the Grand Final than the second four teams. The top four teams need to win only two finals to reach the Grand Final, while the second four teams need to win three. The two winning teams of the top four receive a bye in the second week of the playoff and then play at home in the third week, and the two losing teams play at home in the second week.

Ohhh buggeration!!! ... I really am SO very sorry, Val ... x x x
I've been getting my days confused and all mixed up and had had myself thinking that today was a Tuesday until about an hour ago.
I must admit too that I'm kind-of glad in a small way to come onto the Forum and discover that I wasn't the only one that forgot all about the Punt - but nevertheless I do honestly feel really bad about it all the same ... x x x

I'll tell you something Sj, this was as an exciting game as you'll find. Power were useless in the first half, in the second and third quarter they kept catching up with the Bulldogs, only for the Bulldogs to inch further forward. Then with barely minutes to go, Power went in front, their first and only time. Of course you have to remember that if you have 2 minutes left of the game, the game itself gets stopped for injuries and fouls. Was a really long 2 minutes in this game. Actually cheered out loud when the hooter sounded!
Coincidently, as soon as the game ended I had to leave for work, put me in a right good mood. :-)
