Twentysomething struggles

What's the biggest struggle for Twentysomethings today? (Or what are some of the big ones?) In the book, I wrote about the things that seemed to come up again and again for the Twentysomethings I worked with: finding friends, mental health, work, dealing with family. What problems are the young adults you know facing?

The unexpected isolation created by the spread of Covid virus.

Job seeking conundrum: everyone want to hire people with work experience, but nobody wants to provide that work experience. A surprising number of jobs are listed as “entry level” but at the same time require at least a year’s experience!

Finding their tribe. It's easier with the connectivity of the internet, but the in-person face-to-face relationships were sometimes hard to find and nurture even before the pandemic. Now - infinitely harder.

Patrick, that's definitely come up in the conversations I've had about the book. So much so that it's hard sometimes to remember that there are other struggles too. It seems to eclipse all else. It will be interesting to see as more people are vaccinated how people, especially young people, will reconnect,

I saw an interesting conversation the other day about that, I think it was on Linkedin. The commenter said they applied anyway and got the job. I don't think that would work for every job but the feedback they got about was that the posting was pie-in-sky and the reality was that most candidates didn't have all the qualifications. Frustrating for applicants but I'd love to talk to some HR folks and see if that's common practice.

Right? I know it can be easier (sometimes for some people) to start on the internet but there's also the need for people in your own town, who you can ask for help or if you need a buddy to go to something with you.
