Enea (eneao) | 25 comments Hewwo booky sewers!

i am *grabby hands* at what you are reading, how it's going, if you're liking it etc!

ive been in a slump of picking up books and putting them down again for about a week and its not fun, so i decided to go easy and read a graphic novel. so im reading Persepolis!! i like it a lot for now

Anna | 17 comments Oooh Persepolis! It's been in the back of my mind as a "maybe read in the future", but I've never picked it up.

Graphic novels made me excited for reading again when I was going through a slump in December/January so yours is a good choice ☺️
(If you need graphic novels recs I'm right here👀)

Right now I'm "How to read a dress", which is a non fiction book about how to read dresses silhouettes from the 16th century to the 1970s.
I feel like I'm learning new things, but it's a bit cold, being non fiction, and I feel like I'm in the mood for a story rn.

Kelly C. (kccatalfamo) | 12 comments Persepolis! I also have been meaning to read that at some point! The movie was excellent.

For some reason, Amazon is really trying hard to sell me on "How to Read a Dress" and "How to Read a Suit"! I'm not usually that interested in fashion, but they seem like they could be fun to read.

I'm still reading The Office of Historical Corrections, which is excellent, but it deals with a lot of really heavy issues around race, gender, and so forth, so it's not something I'm always in the mood for and I've been putting off reading the last story a bit.

Anna | 17 comments I love historical fashion, so I'm biased, but "How to read a dress" is nice, although it's a bit... Cold in delivering everything? I know it has to be because it's non fiction, but I've read other nonfiction books that were more lively lol.

The Office of Historical corrections sounds interesting!!

Enea (eneao) | 25 comments The Office of Historical Corrections does sound really cool!!! im almost finished w Persepolis and its really good, and I also started reading Stone Butch Blues which was really a book I had been meaning to read for a long time. It's already making me cry a lot

Daria Chernysheva | 19 comments I am going to start House of Leaves and see how deep into it I can get without quitting (I have no idea what it's about, but I'm trying to read it for a book club and its advertised as being terrifying?..)

message 13: by Anna (new)

Anna | 17 comments I remember reading about it and thinking that it was freaking weird ahahahah
I haven't read it because I don't think I'll ever be mentally ready tbh

As I wait patiently for Enea to get Gideon the Ninth, I'm reading Muriel Spark's The Only Problem.... A friend recommended Muriel Spark to me and for some reason I already had The Only Problem so it was like a sign to actually read it.

I am currently re-reading the Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern! I like it, it has those mystical and romantic vibes I like.

message 17: by Daria (new)

Daria Chernysheva | 19 comments I just finished the Shadow of the Wind, which was a confusing experience
I'll get into the mysterious story and then suddenly there is an icky description of female characters or a police brutality scene and just... why

message 18: by Daria (new)

Daria Chernysheva | 19 comments and I just started Phoenix Extravagant, which is about a nonbinary artist and automatons they activate with their art? I think? very excited about that

message 19: by DATGAMERGIRL1263 (new)

DATGAMERGIRL1263 | 1 comments I'm reading the Shānhǎi Jīng (山海经, The Classic of Mountains and Seas) just for the sake of reading more mythology and chinese! I'm still very much new to it but the illustrations there are so good <33

Daria Chernysheva | 19 comments started "Darius the Great is not okay" (isn't this title a mood)
I obviously can't relate on a feeling out of place in both US and Iran, but
I can relate on a mental health stuff and not knowing how to talk to your grandparents %)
