TART Challenge - Round 3 - Fast like Molasses (11)

I love that the hero married his first wife young and was happily faithful and didn't whore it up after her death. Such a nice change.

I just really loved this! Maybe I've just been in the mood for something sweet, but this really hit the spot 🤣.
I thought the MCs were just fabulous! A Duke who doesn't have a history of whoring it up?

I love that he loved his first wife, and that he was scared to let someone in again. I love how much he loved his daughters and just want to provided them with everything they needed. I love that he was so scared to let Adel in, but when he did, he did it wholeheartedly.
And Adel was such a great heroine! Thank goodness for a regency heroine who isn't totally scared of everything!
I thought this was so well-written, and the characters were done so beautifully. The angst was just spot on, and had so many great feels.
Just wonderful!

Glad you enjoyed it so much.
That Christian and Ana gif is funny

I don't know either author, and they both sound cute 🤷🏼♀️

This book is really rough, though. Feels like it was written by a 14 year old 🤣

Honestly, this book is pretty rough. The dialogue is just really cringy and unnatural, the insta-love is way over the top, and the characters are so flat and fake feeling that it's hard to care about their story.
Lacey, the heroine, is just that ridiculous pixie-dreamgirl type character. Will likes her because she has pink hair, talks to strangers, and is clumsy. Seriously, at one point, her hat starts to blow off her head, and he thinks to himself, "I could never get tired of this girl."

Lacey is also ridiculously flighty and often changes her mind for no clear reason. For example, when she thinks Will has snubbed her at the hotel, she's totally pissed, and then the next time we get her POV chapter she admits that maybe it wasn't the same guy and she feels silly about being upset, and then the next time she sees Will she's all pissed at him for ignoring her (so she did still think it was him?). But don't worry, it's all solved by her falling into the water and Will thinking it's adorable that she's so clumsy, and then she storms off because she's angry, or embarrassed, or something.
And of course there's her over-top-top "should I message him on Whatsapp or not" dilemma that lasts the entire book.

I'm pretty sure that if a dude has given you his number and asked you to text him, and he's already shoved his tongue in your mouth and you liked it, you're probably good to shoot him a text.

And then there's the food poisoning fiasco where Lacey acts like a child, and even at one point says, "What's happening to me. It hurts so bad." And then gets all upset about throwing up in front of the guy she likes, and worries he won't like her anymore.

Besides the lack of any depth to the characters, the story just isn't put together very well. The author does things like having the characters recount scenes to friends exactly how they happened earlier in the book. Readers don't need to re-read these things, saying "She told her what happened" is sufficient. We can remember, don't worry.
Also, there is a lot of stuff included (like the women making a big deal about the resort being all-inclusive, and Will getting excited about getting a deal on his iPhone) that is absolutely unnecessary to the plot, while a lot of stuff that needs more explanation (like why Lacey and Sky agreed to go to the club with those other dudes) is left unclear.
It's just not thoughtfully done, and there is too much filler in here. Just didn't work for me.

🤣🤣 Normally, I think I would get annoyed with a character like this, but for some reason it's really endearing with him. I still don't understand why he was so explicit that their relationship was going to be for show only with no hanky panky stuff. Hopefully will find out soon 🤞🏽.
Anne is so cool though. When that b*tch at the party tells her that Mal is out of her league, and she told her to f-off, I was like, YEAH GIRL!!!!

And I was cracking up so hard during the scene where they're pretending to have sex because their neighbors are being so loud, and Mal's like "You taste so good". And Anne asks "What do I taste like?". And he says "Honey and Cream and Bread....Really sexy bread" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
OMG I was laughing so hard, my husband asked me what I was reading 🤣

Why did I wait so long to read this???!!! I loved it. Just loved it! Mal was so perfectly done. Just the right amount of nutso to make him endearing. And Anne was a superstar!
It's been so long since I read Lick, so I'm not sure if I could pick a favorite between the two, but this was definitely a great read!

My favorite scene was when Anne's 'best friend' finally decided to make a move, but it was too late. I was cheering so hard.

With Facial Hair.

Oh, yeah. That was so good, too. When he came over early that morning with doughnuts after being out all night with some other girl, I wanted to punch his stupid face in!

And the notifications are killing me!

So, I have six pages of books in my eReader with mountain man/men in the title 😳, which is probably concerning. Buuut I know you guys loved

Thanks for letting me know. I didn't even see that message. I'm not getting the notifications so by the time I checked I'd missed so much. I guess I didn't go up far enough. Plus, I'm always having to use my phone which sucks!

I'm grateful for the relationships I built on here and RRRC. That's what keeps me coming back :o)
