I'm trying to find all the rules for audio only publications (and I did ask in the Q&A when I couldn't find it). I've got at least 2 ready but am really hoping one of them will count. If not, I'll just add another one I've got on my radar. :D

I think I went into this one with my expectations too high but it was still a 4 star for me. Loosely connected to her book Repeat which was one of my favorites. This one just didn't live up to the same standards. It was good, cute, I adored Leif, but overall I just would have enjoyed more build up of the chemistry between the main characters.

I may have to abandon that one since its an audio only, but I wanted to get it posted while I'm updating all over GR. :)

I knew this was a spin-off of the King series, so I should have known to finish that series off before reading this one. I know I'm missing some info on Pike that was revealed in that other series, but this was still a good one.

This was not a bad read - I'd never heard of the book/author before, but I think it was a good pick. Brody is an undercover police officer who tries to help a beautiful girl who is injured in a bank robbery. When his tattoo is recognized, they are thrown together. I didn't hate either of the characters but I didn't get super emotionally invested.

Review: A continuation of the Montgomery ink series. Addi and Mace are best friends and start to fall for one another. On top of that Addi and her brother are opening up a franchise of their family tattoo business but someone isn’t happy about their opening and is destroying their shop. An easy read.

How it qualifies: Tattoo on her forearm
Review: This was book 1 in a series, but it did feel like there was a lot of backstory I was missing (I believe she was a character in a previous series). I can see some potential in this new series though - although I don't know I'll continue. Basically, the Ink Witch can read tarot cards and predict the future, and that is how she is making a living at the start of the book. But when her half brother and others are missing, she is drawn back to her previous life as an assassin. The tattoo on the cover is actually a big part of the story as she does it to herself (!) early on with some special ink, and it ends up being unusual.

How it qualifies: cover model has tattoos
Review: Archer was in the military and now part of an MC. A rival MC has been trafficking women and Archer was tasked with killing the President but his bullet went straight through the president and hits a girl. He can’t stop thinking about her and starts a relationship with her. Most of the characters in this book annoyed me in some way or another especially Daria’s roommates who forced her to go to the party where she was shot, they didn’t take her to the hospital, they couldn’t even bring her her purse so she could get the tv on or pay for it themselves.

Task 17 - 109. Read 6 books with or without facial hair on a male cover model. Teams decide.

As a team decide whether you want to do books with facial hair or without. Without facial hair would be clean shaven - no type of beard, mustache, or scruff. Please include the teams decision in your completion posts. You can use any edition's cover to qualify.

Suzanne | 514 comments I'm needing to find something audio because I have to do an airport pickup today/tomorrow (8 hours of driving). The driving home I may not be able to listen, but the driving there I can.

Anyway, do you think Dr. Strange Beard (Winston Brothers, #5) by Penny Reid would work? It's definitely facial hair but I don't know if it counts as a cover model.

I asked in the Q&A also.

message 374: by [deleted user] (new)

It'll likely be fine. Kat has allowed for the drawn/cartoony covers for similar tasks in the past.

message 375: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 514 comments I accidentally skipped that one on the way to series end, so it'll finish the series for me, which will be nice. And I suspect I'll like it more than I liked the last book, which I did NOT enjoy.

message 376: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 514 comments Suzanne wrote: "Does Dr. Strange Beard (Winston Brothers, #5) by Penny Reid for for "cover model with facial hair"? or does it need to be more.. photograph-like?"

Kat: No, but it needs to be clearly shown in either the photo or drawing.

I THINK this means it's ok to use since it's clearly shown. I sure phrased the question(s) badly since it was two questions with opposite answers.

I'm out of town til late tomorrow afternoon, but I'll take my laptop so I can check in once I finish my book.

Since she mentions a drawing being okay, I think she's saying that no, it doesn't have to be photograph-like. Just that is has to be obvious in the drawing or photo that it is facial hair, and not, say, a shadow or something like that. Those Winston Bros books are definitely facial hair. 😁

I'm with you on that last book! It was my least favorite of the series. There was ALL this build up and tension around Billy and Scarlet through the entire series, and then it ended up being a huge, boring let-down.

message 378: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 514 comments I hated all the fighting and animosity in the last book. and I missed the humor. I'm enjoying Dr. Strange Beard a lot more.
