Hi Sophia,

I’m drawn to two books-
Laura Hile’s And So This Is Love
and Cass Grafton’s/Ada Bright’s Mr Darcy’s Persuasion.

I think I’ll aim to read both as the first concerns Charlotte while the other centres on Darcy,Elizabeth, Anne and Captain Wentworth.
What more could a girl ask for?! Happy reading. Thank you for organising this. 🍀

I think it was harder to pick the book to read than make the list. LOL I loved the author's first book and want to read that one eventually, too, Rose.

I am already nearly halfway through it and am seeing similarities *coughcough*FredSophiaWentworth*CoughCough*

Jeannepw BOOK PICK:

Mendacity & Mourning

Because it looks humorous and that’s what I need since in real life I’m dealing with several things that are anything but light-hearted.

Wasn't that great? I can't remember what year we did it, but a bunch of us in this group read it for a group read together and then had the fun of the author coming to visit and answer some of our questions. :) That was a fun treat all around.

Yay for a five star for your pick, abmom! I need to add that one to my wish list.

Oh neat that Haunting Mr. Darcy was one of your gateway JAFF reads.

message 187: by abmom (new)

abmom | 181 comments Thanks Sophie, you should try the book. It's a very sweet book even with some angst and Darcy was swoon worthy.

Wow, two of the books from the list! I'm glad to keep seeing approval of this book. I want to read it soon especially when I need something light and fun.

message 192: by Christina (new)

Christina Morland | 83 comments Just in time for the end of the month, I've finished my April challenge! (Wait, what? It's the end of May, not the end of April? Um, have I mentioned that time and I do not get along?) I read No Thank You, Mr. Darcy as my April challenge. There were some very witty lines in this novel! While the character development and pacing didn't always work for my taste, I appreciated the author's unique approach to retelling P&P. On to read my May challenge -- hopefully before the end of June! :-) Thanks, Sophia, for this fun challenge!

message 193: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) | 804 comments Mod
Super news, Christina! No worries if your timing is on a different pace. :)

I was just coming here to announce that I finished my May book with one day to spare. Jane Austen's Cousin by Geri Walton was a like, but not love. Mostly details I already knew and some speculation. But, there were rabbit trails that probably should have stayed in the author's research folder instead of plugged into the book making it more history than biography at times. Still, I learned and I enjoyed Eliza so I'll call it a win. :)

message 194: by Christina (new)

Christina Morland | 83 comments Nice, Sophia! I love that you include nonfiction in your lists. It takes me forever to get through nonfiction, but it's always enriching to learn more about the people who influenced and surrounded Austen. Sorry about those rabbit trails, but congrats on the read!

And happy reading to everyone else on the boards. I love how engaged you all are in your reading and discussions!

Thanks! Yes, I do try to slip in some non-fic and especially if it is a fascinating personage like Eliza. I read non-fic slower than fic, too.
