Do you set yourself a reading challenge each year ? Does it help you read more books or merely put you under pressure to read a certain number of books ?

I'm doing 4 challenges on the Science Fiction and Fantasy forum on Goodreads, but i still tend to read the same number of books. The one that's helping me clear out my TBR pile the most is the Short Story challenge as normally I prefer a full length book. So far I've read 134 short stories this year in 13 different books
When I first joined Goodreads I did the challenge on here, but had no idea how many books I read, so I opted to start with 100, but I found that I was reading a lot of short books to hit that, so I scaled it back by half, as I love big books and not always a short story fan. I do monthly themes now, as I find it helps me focus on what to read, but with leeway, I have no idea how I'd pick what to read from 300+ books otherwise.
