Hi everyone, just thought I'd give a brief history of His Name Is Alive. I first heard of them when I purchased the music magazine Select back in 1990. The edition I bought had a free 4AD cassette featuring the Cocteau Twins, Pixies, Pale Saints and HNIA., (it actually introduced me to all of those bands, so was a pretty good find). Anyway, the song 'Some And I' was the one released from their first album 'Livonia' and was what you would have expected from a 4AD band, ie ethereal, ghostly female vocals and sometimes incomprehensible lyrics. They carried on in this vein with 'Home Is In Your Head' their second album, but went a bit more indie art rock with 'Mouth By Mouth'. This was the album where I saw a bit of potential for them hopefully releasing a heavier rock album. This came in 2016 with the 'Patterns Of Light' album featuring the thrash rock 'Black Wings' and the stoner rock song 'Patterns Of Light', and this remains my favourite so far. Of note is their version of the Beach Boys 'Good Vibrations' entitled 'Universal Frequencies' and their attempt at a gospel blues album called 'Someday My Blues Will Cover the Earth', which I wasn't so keen on. Lastly, one of their trademarks is to have songs mix into the next one on an album. That's fine if you listen to an album as a whole but could make for certain songs to suffer with abrupt endings on the playlist. Anyway enough waffle, hope you enjoy at least some of it. :-)The 17 albums that wikpidia states is not quite true as some of these so called albums are just early demos and alternate versions of songs from proper albums.

Well that was a disappointing turn out if ever I seen one! Only half of the original nommers bother to turn up to finish off the game by casting their votes. What went wrong, what must poor ol' Foe be thinking of all you abstainers?Despite this, we do have a clear winner. On 12 points, it's a rare gold for Spacepig with Demonmix. Four points behind and a silver for Sera69 and How Dark Is Your Dark Side. Sharing the bronze, a point behind, Tech and TheFoe with Are We Still Married? and I Will Disappear You.
And for a change, we have a wooden spoon award. Lez made a point of stating how much she was enjoying this band, then didn't get around to voting, and it appears that her choice didn't hit the spot with the small band of voters, so it's the booby prize for Sitting Still Moving Still Staring Outlooking.

I swear this still had time to run. I don't miss threads on purpose but my timing is the worst. This was a good round, too. FWIW Demonmix was my top vote.

Spacepig: may i recommend that perhaps you put the closing dates in the heading as i have done with Themes. In the past some folks missed out noming/voting, which hardly happens now. Just an idea.
May I recommend that outcomes are described as eloquently as is usually done but without the unnecessary commentary on degree of participation which can easily lead to pointless kerfuffle and/or embarrassment? Folks'll do what folks will as their lives or level of interest will allow.

Must admit I was a bit disappointed at the number of voters, but more so that Fishy Jim didn't participate. I'm not singling him out before anyone starts, I just thought he'd quite like them.

Wiki lists an impressive 17 albums since their first in 1990, plus a barrow load of singles, EPs, remixes and independent projects. Any doubts about eligibility, see TheFoe cause I don't have a clue.
