MountainKat | 31593 comments I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though.

Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 2, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉

Jeydon Marshall | 372 comments Hey everyone! I'm Jeydon but you can also call me Jey! I volunteered to Captain for our team but I’m always open to help and/or suggestions :D

I’m 22 and live in Southern California with my partner of going on 6 years now and our 3 cats as well as a bunny 🐰. We started out long distance after meeting at an LGBT Camp in California before I had to fly back to Pennsylvania. Our first year or so together involved a lot of trips back and forth to see each other but we had a lot of fun adventures and we both love road trips to new places & photography so it worked out 😝

This is my first time taking part in this particular challenge but I've been involved in tons of other challenges including team challenges in other groups.

I figure since we have an idea of what some of the tasks COULD be, we should go ahead and include some basic info in our introductions and I'll store all the info in case that task gets called.

Here's the info you can include in your intro. You can take some time to think about which five favorite books you want to list though.

Time Zone:
Birthday:
Hometown: (Either Born In/Raised/Currently Live In. We'll have to choose someone's hometown to read a book set in)
Year Joined RRRC:
5 Favorite Books:

My Answers —

Time Zone: PST (Soon to be PDT)
Birthday: July 9, 1998
Hometown: I currently live in Los Angeles, California and that would probably be easier to find a book set in than my actual hometown ;D
Year Joined RRRC: 2020
5 Favorite Books: TBD

Please feel free to share any Team Name ideas you have as well! I’m terrible at coming up with team names personally 😂

Laks | 1953 comments So..a proper hello to all!

Here are my stats :

Time Zone: IST (Indian Standard Time) - So, i might be asleep when you all are active for a chat!
Birthday: Feb 26th 1982
Hometown: India
Year Joined RRRC: 2020
5 Favorite Books:

1)Fair Game series and Out of the Blue by Josh Lanyon
2) On the Wings of War series by Hailey Turner
3) Cut & Run series by Madeleine Urban
4)Muscling Through and Permanently Legless by J.L. Merrow

These are the ones I have reread many times, though there are plenty more I consider "favourites" 😄

Laks | 1953 comments Looking forward to play with you all. This is my second time in this game. I read almost all genres and kinks, the only stipulation being that its not too boring for me. Even then, I have read few terrible books for the sake of challenges! I love mysteries, historicals and paranormal romances with magic the best.

As to names for our team -
Rainbow Dash
Amazing Pride

I am not good with names 🤷‍♀️. Hope someone else come up with something better.

I may have gone through the list of tasks ahead of time so I could be ready ;D

It’s nice to meet you, Laks! India would be a bit difficult but not necessarily impossible. I suppose we can count ourselves lucky that I live in a fairly easy location for that particular task, but I’m not against giving another location a try as long as we can all find books set there 😊

You’re quick with favorites! I’m terrible at choosing top 5 and such (I love so many) but I’ll be thinking on mine today. I plan on starting the Soulbound series by Hailey Turner soon so it’s awesome to know you highly recommend it! I feel like so many people have at least started the series but I’m playing a bit of catch up with the M/M Genre because I only truly realized how huge of a community there was for it last year.

You’re much better with name ideas than me! All I could come up with was “Rainbow Road” from Mario Kart LOL. I love Rainbow Dash too though so if everyone else likes that one I’m down to select it for our team name.

Jeydon Marshall | 372 comments Picking favorites kills me because I love so many books but I tried to select a wide variety of different genres because I have so many favorites that are Fantasy/Paranormal and I know that’s not everyone’s thing so I didn’t want all 5 of mine to be in that category. If there’s not a particular book in the series that stood out for me more than the others, I simply listed the first one.

Favorite Books:
1. Black Dog Blues Kai Gracen Series by Rhys Ford
2. The Last Sun The Tarot Sequence Series by K.D. Edwards

Laks | 1953 comments The Last Sun is another of my favourites! Loved this fantasy world. I am eagerly waiting for the next books to come out 😊👍

KJ Charles is also a good author. Havent read the An Unsuitable Heir though. Should give it a try !

I had tried the Lords of Discord last year, but sorry to say I did not like the first book . I have read the author's other series too, and felt like an average read. Guess we all have our different tastes 😊

I more so enjoyed Lords of Discord’s story for the bonds between the brothers than the romance side of it. In my opinion, the first book was the weakest in the series so if you ever do decide to give it another chance, keep that in mind! We definitely all have different tastes though. I have a thing for vampire brothers ;D

I’m so excited for more of the Tarot Sequence, I even follow the author on twitter for updates 😂

Michaele | 6540 comments Hello- ok, here is a fuller introduction.

My name is Michaele, but it's pronounced like Michael. I currently live in Utah with my dog Rusty, who is a therapy dog. We used to visit an assisted living place and a children's psychiatric hospital, but we've been side-lined by Covid. I teach history and work at an archives. For some reason that has contributed to my dislike of historical romance. I mostly read contemporary m/m romance, but I am trying to challenge myself to expand my reading choices this year - to give other sub-genres a chance.

And for the stats -

Time Zone: MST
Birthday: August 9, 1976
Hometown: Utah (in the Salt Lake City area)
Year Joined RRRC: 2017
5 Favorite Books: I am going to need more time for this one I think, but I'll get on it ASAP :)

It’s nice to meet you, Michaele!

Rusty sounds amazing. I’ve been in hospitals in the past where we got visited by therapy dogs and I can honestly say that they’re GREAT at making people’s days better. I hope you’ll both be able to get back to visits again soon once we get a majority of people vaccinated and such.

I can also appreciate not wanting to read books on/involving a topic that is a big part of real life for you. If you’re ever looking to read some paranormal/fantasy/urban fantasy I’m sure we can all recommend some great ones for you! I read contemporary as well, but a lot of my favorite series tend to have at least a bit of magic to them.

Thank you for offering help if needed! I’ll definitely reach out to you if I do at any point.

Jeydon Marshall | 372 comments I believe we’re just waiting for Roger to check in but I’m sure he will soon since he’s been pretty active on here the past week. I know we all get busy with real life sometimes though.

We’ll see what he thinks of the team name Rainbow Dash or if he has any of his own suggestions then go from there! 🌈

No rush on picking 5 favorites to either Michaele or Roger. I only included it in the introduction to give people the chance to start brainstorming ideas since we never know when it might be called. Feel free to share your list whenever you decide. Doesn’t have to be in any order either, I just listed 5 that I rated highly and enjoyed reading.

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 2042 comments Hello, I am Roger a 52 year old from Milwaukee WI. So central time zone. I was born December 22,1968. I have MS, so there are days I will be too tired to read. I like Rainbow Dash(ers) the letters in parentheses could be better suited for a team racing.
joined in 2014. If you feel the need to shorten my name use "Rojo" as I hate "Rog".

Favorite Book in no particular order
The Return
Keeping Promise Rock
The T.H.I.R.D.S. Series
Love Me Tenor
The Lightning-Struck Heart

No worries, Roger! Just check in with us when you can. I also love the THIRDS series and have been slowly working my way through all the books. I still need to read The Lightning-Struck Heart but my partner has read the series and he loved it too.

Jeydon Marshall | 372 comments Thoughts on Rainbow Dash VS. Rainbow Dash(ers)? I’m good with either keeping it simplified with Rainbow Dash or adding the (ers) at the end. I think either works for racing though since Dash makes me think of running quickly, especially because it’s the name of the little boy from the Incredibles movie 😂🏃‍♂️

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 2042 comments i am fine with either a dash is a type of race, while dashers are the people competing in the race.

Laks | 1953 comments Rainbow Dash sounds cooler! Or maybe I am biased..😄

Laks | 1953 comments Hello Roger.. We had played together in a Bingo MM 2 years back. And we had won then ! 🙂 luck was with us then

Jeydon Marshall | 372 comments I’ll submit the team name as Rainbow Dash but as members of team Rainbow Dash that makes us Rainbow Dashers 🌈👍

Who would have thought getting a shot would be so exciting? I get mine in April.

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 2042 comments Considering I have a compromised immune system I was hoping I
would have been in the first group to get it, but Wisconsin finally changed the rules and restaurant workers are now considered to be part of the food supply chain! otherwise it would be March 29th when I was eligible.

Highly recommend that series.

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 2042 comments The timing is good just finished spellpalooza challenge at MMRG at 3pm eastern today and the only other challenge I am in now is a one book a week challenge!

message 46: by Jeydon (new)

Jeydon Marshall | 372 comments I’m glad you’re able to get it, Roger! I’m currently just waiting for whenever I get an invite to make an appointment. It’s quite stressful just being told to wait. I have a history of asthma and more recently a heart murmur that I’m seeing the cardiologist for later this month so I seriously just want to get vaccinated already 😓 My partner got his this past Friday but because I’m unemployed I don’t qualify yet. Hoping I’ll make the requirements for health reasons but I’m told I just have to wait and see.

message 47: by Jeydon (new)

Jeydon Marshall | 372 comments And as Roger said, the first call will be at 6PM EDT tomorrow which I know translates to 3pm in PDT. Daylight savings messed with some of the time differences though so I’d suggest checking to make sure on the time difference between your location and EDT if you want to be on when the call is made! 💜

Laks | 1953 comments 6 pm eastern will be 3 am for me! So..fast asleep. I will be up around 6.30 am usually, so if the requires a team decision, I will be around then!

No worries! Just check in whenever is a good time for you :)

And thank you. I know it’s stressful for lots of people having to wait and even after since it’s not 100% full proof. I’m just hoping we can get everyone vaccinated soon as it will relieve at least some of the concern for serious issues if we do get it.
