Okay, so I just finished "Part One: Simon Says" (chapters 1-9) so don't read unless you've finished lol

One would be a prediction about Cooper because in the beginning when he was with Keely and his family, he got a text from someone, so I am assuming his secret is not the steroids but that he is cheating on Keely with someone else. Next, just finished the part where Addy tells Jake and I feel like Jake or Tj even could be a bigger part of the story as they keep on mentioning them both a lot (I could be getting ahead of myself ofc). As someone a part of the Latin community, I am here for the representation of that through Bronwyn. I have not read a lot of books with Latin representation, so it is nice for once. And Nate, idk where to start- he seems like a guy who is very misunderstood and I feel like if he was the "killer" it would be too obvious since they all have their little stereotypes yk? So I think he is in the clear lol. Other than that, I am reallllyyyy liking this entire story so far.

It would be too easy to make him the murderer, and honestly, i dont think hed put that much effort into it if he was going to kill him. Hes really low-effort lol. Also i really dont like jake. Hes probably my least favorite character here bc hes really controlling over addy. (view spoiler)[ Ok so, I reallyyy like how this is going so far. I love how I was not expecting a romance and then BAM Bornwyn and Nate. I love how even tho they are really different, they balance and help each other out by making the other a better person. Also Addy, that character development! I am so proud she is finding herself again instead of hiding behind Jake all the time. Now to Jake, I think he IS apart of the whole Simone thing (prediciton ofc but I feel very strong about this). I mean... he invited Addy just to talk about the investigation and he is always being mentioned and talked about. He just seems like a horrible person. Now Cooper, we find out he was cheating on Keely with a dude named Kris and that is his true secret. I just want to mention how him being gay is like the whole "plot twist" if you will, but I feel like it would've been better if that wasn't the SHOCKER part about him. I hope you all understand what I mean and how using Cooper's sexuality as a big plot point seemed weird compared to the others plain shockers, and it seemed wrong as the author used that for Cooper. On the other hand, I love how she represented the struggles of being apart of the LGBTQ+ community and she is depicting that perfectly. (Also I feel the F slur was unessecary). But other than all this, I REALLY like this book. It seems to be a new favorite of mine and I am inhaling the pages lol. oh and maeve is my favorite character- i just love her lmao. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ OK wow. Simon, jake, Janae, I can't really process this at once. That was one of THE best shockers/plot twists I had ever read. I mean I had GOOSEBUMPS IN THE ENDING. From where Janae explained it all, to where Jake almost KILLED Addy, like wow. What I really liked is how everything was explained in the end and it wrapped everything up leaving no questions at all. I also liked how we had all the clues and were able to try and figure out who killed Simon, or who might have been an accomplice. I loved the four protagonists so much and they have a special place in my heart. As well as Kris and Maeve too lol, I can't forget about them. Other than that, all I have to say is, this is probably the best book I have ever read. Ikik, but I have never read a book with this type of genre before and jeezzzzz, I have been missing out. The mystery, the suspense, the character development. It was all there and i loved it so much. Also i NEVER would have guessed jake was involved at all. Like i thought about it, but then i was like, noo, hes not smart enough for that. But boy was i wrong! He was masterminding practically the whole thing after simon died! Also i started out this book hating Addy, and i ended it loving her. She completely transformed, although thats not really the right word, because she was the same person all along, she was just suppressing her real self when she was with jake. Also i loved the setting of this book! I literally live right around where all of this was taking place (although i looked it up and i dont think bayview is a real place). But i live like an hour away from san diego, i go to petco park for padres games all the time (or i used to before covid), and ive been camping in joshua tree. It was just really cool to be like Hey! ive been there!
