Truitt_T | 805 comments I've got a Kindle 1st edition / page count question. I'm going to read Rapture in Death, but the earliest published kindle version listed on GR is October 1st, 1996 (Rapture in Death). Since amazon didn't sell its first Kindle until 2007, should I actually be using the Kindle version published in 2007 (Rapture in Death)?

Thanks!

No, use the earliest dated Kindle edition. Even if it is before a Kindle was ever released. I think the publishers chose to use that date showing it wasn't changed from the initial release? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Either way, this is what I am looking for:

**Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only! If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book. Ebook page count will be acceptable if no Kindle page count available. The acceptability of other page counts will be made on an individual basis.**

These are the book requirements for this challenge:

There is a 150 page minimum for books, rereads and audios ok. Books may only be used once per player during the challenge. Players may read the same book for a task unless otherwise specified. Books do not have to be romance, but must be fiction.

I am not familiar with that set of books, but it does appear there is a common element linking them, so I will allow it.

Yes, as long as it is clearly not set in the US.

The mechanical would not work, needs to be a "real" animal. I put real in quotes because a unicorn or other mythical animals would work. A silhouette is tricker because it needs to represent the actual animal and I am hesitant to say that all would work - so I will leave that as a maybe. Though for your example, the birds are not all silhouettes and that cover would work.

In other words, the animal on the cover needs to represent the actual animal, real or mythical. So a statue of an animal would not work for example.

Depends on how much of a rule follower you are! 😂

Seriously, I am only going to search for the name on the book you read. I don't even know all the different authors and their pseudonyms, so I don't really expect you all to either.

If they are listed on GR with a publication date, yes.

ETA: You will also need a page count!
