Alina | 58 comments Hiccup is back for his fifth adventure! Usually, a heat wave in August means for Vikings that their will be a lot of rain because they are rather normally cool, wet affairs. This heat wave was different though for the Vikings because it felt like a dragon breathing its fire on you 24/7. During the course of the summer, Old Wrinkly had been babbling about how the unexpected warmth was a terrible Omen of Doom and a new kind of Terror Dragon had awoken, but no one really took Old Wrinkly seriously because his future predictions were almost always false. During The Herding Reindeer On Dragonback Lesson, the woods catch fire and the young Vikings are trapped in the middle of the fire trap. When Gobber tries to go back to save Hiccup from the fire (Or really the thing moving in the fire), a man on a white dragon rushes in to save Hiccup by putting him in a fireproof suit. When Stoick asks the great hero about who he is and if he will be Hiccup’s Bardiguarding (someone who was a bodyguard for the Heir to a Viking Chief). The man on the white dragon explains that he is not a lava lout (A tribe that are the Hooligans Tribe’s deadliest enemies) but, he is a great hero, Humungously Hotshot, he was trying to get away from the Exterminators dragons and he will be Hiccup’s Bardiguarding. Over the course of a few weeks, Hiccup and the rest of the tribe start following Humungously every move, start copying his beard ponytail, and thinking he is a great hero of some sort even if he stopped heroing 15 years ago because he had gotten caught by the lava lout’s. When Humungously tries to kill Hiccup in his sleep, he explains that he only took the job to kill Hiccup but manages to save him always at the last minute, he was trying to compete a promise he made to Terrific Al (Who is actually Alvin the Treacherous). When Hiccup realizes that the fire stone that his father stole from the lava lout’s fifteen years ago is a way to stop a volcano from exploding and hatching the Exterminators dragons, he, Fishlegs and Camicazi ( Big – Boobied Bertha’s tiny, tangle-haired daughter and Hiccup’s friend) must stop the volcano from exploding before the eggs hatch and the whole Archipelago goes up into flames.

I like this book because even if there is no movie based on it, it has a very good plot and it brings new dragons into the world. I think the water dragons in the movies are based off of the water dragon that is in this book, which is used by Hiccup’s tribe to be a fire brigade because the according to the book, the dragons living with the Vikings accidently start fires sometimes and they needed a fast system to put the fires out. I also think that Astrid from the movies is Camicazi in a way because Camicazi is always ready for a adventure and so is Astrid. I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
