Evan Meade witnesses the murder of his stepfather, Paul Knox, by someone wearing a badge. He runs and is pursued by the killer. Did you think he’d escaped or gotten caught at the time?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I assumed that Evan got away from the murderer, but wasn't sure.

So many of the prologues end up with the narrator dead I was sure Evan was history.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments That's true. There are not many narrators that live through the prologue.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1803 comments I agree - the prologue narrators don't usually live long in these books. That said, I didn't think he was dead as his being on the run was heavily hinted at in the book blurb.

I don’t read the book blurbs anymore (beyond the time when I’m adding the book to my shelf). They seem to give too much away.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I assumed that Evan was alive; maybe I shouldn't have read the blurb!

Yes, and they can also be very misleading. That said, I always read them anyway - go figure :)

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I didn't think Evan was dead although I did think he might be a future victim.
