Welcome to the group, Jenny.
Here's hoping we can suggest some good books to keep you company.

Hello!
Welcome. I'm just getting back into this group myself.

I was reading your intro and one thing's for sure....there's nothing like historical mysteries to calm ones nerves while stranded in the cities and streets of Scotland. :) (jk, lol) Happy reading.

Joyce (jvst) | 56 comments Hi all!

I'm Joyce, and I just joined today :)

A bit more about me: I'm Dutch, married, no kids (unfortunately), work full time as a computer tech, love to cook, curl up on the couch with a mug of tea and something to knit while watching a movie or binge a series, and I LOVE to read, preferably a mystery that takes place 100 years or more in the past.
I'm definitely a RIO person, I hardly ever read two or more books at the same time, I don't mind a bit of romance in a book but the mystery has to be the main plot, and I usually stay away from stories that involve time travel or more time lines.
Among my favorite series are Sebastian St. Cyr, Lord Petteril, Barker & Llewelyn, Below Stairs, Captain Lacey, and Redmond and Haze.

S.K. Rizzolo (skrizzolo) | 49 comments Hello, I've been a member of this group for some time, though I haven't been active recently. I write historical mysteries set in 19th-century England. My new Victorian series introduces an amateur sleuth who finds her purpose in life as a detective.

I'm looking forward to getting some good book recommendations to read over the holidays!

Safe in Death An Esther Hardy Victorian Mystery (Book 1) (Esther Hardy Victorian Mysteries) by S.K. Rizzolo

Lindsey (ucdlindsey) | 27 comments Hi all, just joined today as I saw the group pop up and historical mysteries are one of the genres I enjoy. I'm currently reading the 2nd in the Harriet Gordon series, Revenge in Rubies (Harriet Gordon Mystery, #2) by A.M. Stuart , which I'm enjoying. It's nice to sometimes get a historical mystery not set in Victorian or Regency-era England (it takes place in Singapore). ;)

Let's see, other than that, I've been a Goodreads member since 2014, and I also enjoy reading other sub-genres in the mystery/thriller vein, as well as lots of fantasy. Nice to meet everyone, and I look forward to discussing books with you!

Sandy | 1629 comments Welcome. Be sure to check out our yearly challenge - based on Clue (the game) for 2025. And there is always a monthly author. I sampled the Harriet Gordon series but didn't continue. I I am reading another series set in the far East, the Crown Colony series: The Frangipani Tree Mystery.

I see the Frangipani Tree Mystery is set in Singapore as well, I added it to my TBR for a possible future read. 😊 The Clue challenge looks like fun if a bit complicated. I will review it properly later on my actual computer and see if I can find a book to fit.

Peggyzbooksnmusic | 597 comments Lindsey; Welcome! 3 of my favorite non-Regency/Victorian historical mystery series are A Rising Man by Abir Mukherjee set in India; A Few Right Thinking Men by Sulari Gentill set in 1930's Australia & Murder by Misrule by Anna Castle set in 16th century England. Best to read these series in order. Happy reading!

Andy Howells Hi I'm Andy, I'm currently making a strong effort to get back into reading, life events over the last few decades seem to have prevented me from reading proper books, as much as I loved them as a younger person. After much stalling, I retreated to books during a low period last autumn and managed to reach my Goodreads total of 12 by December 30! I have held a lifelong ambition to read the Sherlock Holmes books and seem to have a cquired a miscellany from various sources. I completed The Extraordinary Cases of Sherlock Holmes prior to New Year and am just starting tonight on a 1964 paperback edition of "More Exploits of Sherlock Holmes" a pastiche collection by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's son Adrian and John Dickson Carr.
