So what do you think, is Sharp really Roumanian or Hungarian royalty? Why have all the girls in Saint Botolph's lost their memory? And what's with Scrimpson? What's really her agenda? I can't wait for the next installment.

The royalty question is interesting! What made you think she's possibly royalty? The epilogue makes me think not.
But I'll take Iaminia Baciu claim that she's Hungarian. Or Romanian. Those two languages are very different, and someone from the area would know them apart. But there are speakers of either language on both sides of the border (a border that didn't even exist then), so it's easy to imagine Baciu saying what she did. Also, incidentally, Baciu checks out in Google as a place in Transylvania.
As for Scrimpson - agreed, something is up. We shall see!

Scrimpson definitely knows more than she's letting on. What that is, however, I haven't a clue.
I have a theory that the nobility is somehow behind the ladies losing their memories. How better to silence potential rivals or whistleblowers, and how better to humiliate them than subjugating them to a life of servitude? The theory is admittedly "out there", but it's possible.
P.S. Love Vasily, 10/10, would gift him an ill-advised blood donation
