I liked this installment much better than the last one, and am especially grateful that the love triangle in this series seems to have finally reached a conclusion, since it was honestly awful. Enjoyed the mystery in this book, and also how Alexโ€™s skills as a plane weaver finally seem to be evolving, as is her knowledge of what she is potentially capable of. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

๐‘๐ž๐ฏ๐ข๐ž๐ฐ I'm really enjoying Lauren Blakely books and this one didn't disappoint. It was sweet and light hearted. Not much angst and a good amount of steam. Griffin and Joy were great together. I loved how they met... and loved their love story even more. I really enjoyed Griffin's list, I think we all need one.

Big Summer by Jennifer Weiner
Book-Big Summer
Rating- 4 Stars
Review-
I hadn't ever read a book by Jennifer Weiner before and I was really surprised how much I loved it. Daphne goes to school at a prep school and the only way she's able to go is because one of her parents works there. All the girls are these beautiful rich snobby girls and she is overweight and not rich. She becomes friends with Drue who is the popular girl on the campus until they have a falling out one night and Drue embarrasses Daphne and it goes viral. Instead of hiding after this video goes viral Daphne uses it to become a big social media influencer.

There was a big twist in the middle of the book that I never saw coming. I loved it so much. Daphne was a great character where Drue was an awful friend and person. Great book and I recommend it to everyone

Shadow and Bone (The Shadow and Bone Trilogy, #1) by Leigh Bardugo
Book-Shadow and Bone
Rating- 5 Stars
Review-
This was a reread for me and I loved it just as much reading this time as I did 5 years ago when I read it. The Darkling is still the one I want to see Alina with. Alina was just your average mapmaker. She had no idea she had a great Grisha power. One that would make her a one of a kind. Alina was discovered to be a Sun Summoner and the Darkling wanted to become the strongest force while others want to see her dead. Alina just wanted her old life back with Mal her childhood friend and crush.

Great trilogy and I highly recommend it

Wrong Turn by Samantha Chase
Date read: March 31st, 2021

Review:
This book was so much fun! A road trip romance, with enemies to lovers trying to stop the wedding of their friends.

I adored both Chelsea and Drew, their banter was fantastic. Also, Chelsea grew a lot in this story. Beyond the romance, I also liked the talk of how even if you have been friends since you were children, doesn't mean you need to stay friends as you become adults.

Highly recommend.

Rating (1-5): 3.5
Review
I really enjoyed this story of Margaret learning how to cope after a plane crash left her burned and paralyzed. It might sound like a serious and depressing novel, but there was a lot of fun in it. I think the author downplayed some of the pain one might have with burns, but she did a good job of detailing the highs and lows of recovery. On top of her physical issues, Margaret also had to deal with the fact that her fiance caused the accident and then was a total jerk about things because he was dealing with his guilt. She also had to deal with a mother who kept pushing the idea that the power of positive thinking would get Margaret walking again - I really wanted to punch her mother. Then there was the rebuilding of her relationship with her sister who was a quirky character you wanted in your corner. Best of all, though, was Ian, her Scottish physical therapist. I got the audiobook just so that I could hear the accent. He might be super grumpy, but I really liked seeing her break down his walls. Overall, I enjoyed this womenโ€™s fiction novel. It had some slow moments, especially as she wallowed (as to be expected given a life changing injury) but it was fun to be a part of her journey.

I really liked this one.

Lucas and Gwen dated and were engaged back in collage six years earlier. They split up after Gwen was brutally raped and left for dead. Lucas changed his course and instead of becoming an architect, he joined the police force.

Gwen is now being stalked again and comes to Lucas for help. It was a very interesting plot and I though I knew who the stalker was, but I was incorrect. The romance was very sweet and it made sense given the situation.

Radar Girls by Sara Ackerman
Bookcover/link: Radar Girls by Sara Ackerman
Rating (1-5): 3
Review:
This was an enjoyable story about the Womenโ€™s Air Raid Defense - a group of women during WWII who helped read radar and guide pilots during WWII in Hawaii. It followed Daisy as she learned the ropes, bonded with her colleagues, and found love. Sometimes it would be bogged down with technical jargon as she went through her training, but that seemed to speak to the authenticity and level of research the author went through. There was also a subplot about a missing horse that sometimes seemed to distract from the story, but as a whole it worked. At some points I wanted more of certain scenes, but I liked the bonding between the women and the romance was nice touch. This is my second book by the author and I look forward to more.

๐‘๐ž๐ฏ๐ข๐ž๐ฐ - This was a sweet small town romance. Griff was gruff, but boy did he love his family something fierce. He also loved his apple orchard and took great pride in it. He had to put his own life on hold to help with it. He got a little blast from the past thrown into his world. Audrey was everything and more that he remembered from when they knew each other at college. She was only at his family orchard for business reasons.. or was she? Could they rekindle a fire that was put out way too soon? I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to continuing with the series.

One Perfect Summer by Brenda Novak
Bookcover/link: One Perfect Summer by Brenda Novak
Rating (1-5): 3
Review:
This was the story of three half sisters who only discovered their connection because of DNA testing. Theyโ€™re spending the summer together to learn more about each other and find out how theyโ€™re all connected. Each sister is dealing with their own set of drama from a husband who cheated with her best friend to a surprise pregnancy and the fall out of sending oneโ€™s husband to jail. The drama did a good job of making each character complex. I will say, though, that some of it seemed so easy. The few bumps in the relationships at the beginning we completely resolved and they were all BFFS early on. This book might have benefited from a little bit more conflict. Otherwise it was an enjoyable read.

Twilight's Herald by T.A. White
Date Completed: 4/12/2021
Rating: 4.5โญ๏ธ

I pretty much am a fan of anything that TA White writes, but Iโ€™ll admit that reading the first book in this series I wasnโ€™t sure I was going to love this series as much as the other two Iโ€™ve read - and boy, was I wrong. The heroine Aileen Travers is beyond stubborn, smart, sarcastic, and determined to go her own way, which gives the vampires in her assumed clan fits, which generally makes me laugh.

This installment wasnโ€™t so much about the discovery of her biological father, as I thought it would be, but rather her heretofore unknown lineage and helping to resolve the conflict within that heritage. I am also really loving how the relationships with Liam, Thomas, and Conner are developing, as well as the growth of Aileenโ€™s powers. An excellent entry into this series, and now Iโ€™m just sad because I donโ€™t know when the next book will be out.

Thank you. I'm so glad you said that because I seriously thought I had lost my marbles. The only reason why I know it was there is because I wrote all the titles down. I went looking for each book on Kindle Unlimited and Audible/Scribd and Overdrive. I wanted the book and the audio so if I was doing dishes or chores I could listen to my book. In Five Years by Rebecca Serle
Bookcover/link: In Five Years by Rebecca Serle
Rating (1-5): 3
Review
I want to know why 1K+ people have listed this as a romance...this is NOT a romance. There is no HEA. In fact, it is fairly depressing. That being said, when you move past it not being a romance, it is a meaningful story. Dannie has a five year plan set and then one day she has a dream that throws everything into question. Itโ€™s just a dream, though, and for four and half years everything is on track...until she meets her best friendโ€™s new boyfriend, who just had been in her dream. Now Dannie is worried about throwing her plan off its track and screwing things up for her best friend Bella. At least thatโ€™s what the first half is about. Then a devastating cancer diagnosis shifts the bookโ€™s focus to Dannieโ€™s relationship with Bella and becomes a story about whatโ€™s important in life (but not romance, this book is not about romance). Some things rubbed me wrong about the book - like it being her best friendโ€™s boyfriend - but the strength of Dannieโ€™s friendship with Bella and the story of facing loss and grief sold the story. I just wish it was marketed differently so that I didn't feel so deceived.
