Mrunal (darkicecoffee) | 8565 comments Is there a word for the fear of not being able to choose a suitable career in time?

I don´t know but I am in a similar situation
when do you have to choose ?

message 4577: by Mrunal (new)

Mrunal (darkicecoffee) | 8565 comments Well... I'm actually just 15...but our schools says that it's too late for me to choose one... That I was supposed to decide what I wanted to in grade 5.... But honestly I didn't even know what the word career meant at the time....

message 4578: by [deleted user] (new)

wAIT WE HAVE TO PICK A CAREER AT 15?!

message 4579: by [deleted user] (new)

I HAVE NO DAMN CLUE WHAT TO BECOME

message 4580: by [deleted user] (new)

tho I am not 15 yet...

message 4581: by Mrunal (new)

Mrunal (darkicecoffee) | 8565 comments Well.... I'm not sure....

what? why do you have to pick a career so early? you basically know nothing in grade 5!

Well you can choose the subjects but then you can also go in a very different direction in the future. For instance, I chose maths physics and biology as main subjects but I can go to literature if I want. you have plenty of time, don´t stress

message 4585: by Mrunal (new)

Mrunal (darkicecoffee) | 8565 comments Well.... Basically.... There's this educational institution called "IIT" which stands for "Indian Institute of Technology". It's considered the most prestigious engineering college in the world.... Sundar Pichai also studied there.... The entrance exam for the college is one of the toughest to crack.... And there are special courses designed to help students prepare for it.... And guess what.... The courses start from the age of 11.

Mrunal wrote: "Well.... Basically.... There's this educational institution called "IIT" which stands for "Indian Institute of Technology". It's considered the most prestigious engineering college in the world......."

this is the most indian thing ever

message 4587: by Mrunal (new)

Mrunal (darkicecoffee) | 8565 comments And I don't want to do Engineering.... But our school is determined to get its students to either engineering or medical.... And if you don't want to do either... You better choose a good career before it's too late.... That's what they say....

message 4588: by Mrunal (new)

Mrunal (darkicecoffee) | 8565 comments @Navya Yupp

message 4589: by Marie (new)

Marie | 1726 comments ah okay, i see. but that doesn't mean you have to follow a certain path right? obviously the courses are an advantage if you already know which career you wanna choose, but it's not set in stone

message 4590: by Mrunal (new)

Mrunal (darkicecoffee) | 8565 comments If only it was that easy.... You see Indians (not gen z tho) are obsessed with those two professions mentioned above.... And the educational system of the country is also designed according to those colleges... You won't find a cracking course for the entrance exam for "Nift" which stands for "National Institute of Fashion Technology"

message 4591: by Gabriela (new)

Gabriela Almeida | 215 comments I don´t know why people think that the only way to achieve sucess is doing engineering or medical.
I know this is cheesy but just follow your heart

message 4592: by Marie (new)

Marie | 1726 comments wow...that sounds really not that great...

Yeah... well, I want to be a author or artist, even thought that means I probably won’t have too much money..

message 4594: by Mrunal (new)

Mrunal (darkicecoffee) | 8565 comments Well... People think that those two are the only options because it's you know.... Like a money machine.... Does that make sense?

message 4595: by Mrunal (new)

Mrunal (darkicecoffee) | 8565 comments @Karin Money is never an issue if you love what you do...

i love reading

and i have to say

money is very much an issue

message 4597: by Marie (new)

Marie | 1726 comments Mrunal wrote: "@Karin Money is never an issue if you love what you do..."

i would not agree with that, because you know some people it is not possibly to make a living out of what they love, unfortunately...

message 4598: by Mrunal (new)

Mrunal (darkicecoffee) | 8565 comments @Navya that is not what I meant.

message 4599: by Mrunal (new)

Mrunal (darkicecoffee) | 8565 comments @Marie well the general idea of that quote is that if you love your profession... You will never regret taking it in the first place.... But it might differ from person to person

Mrunal wrote: "@Navya that is not what I meant."

I know, I know. I get it though.

Was just kidding.

Uh, I think that money is also important even when it means not enjoying it, since unemployment keeps growing and these days, only the best are known. So, most parents urge their children to do what makes them richer, which is wrong. Passion in jobs is important, but so is a stable fund.
