i'm good! my first wave of exams is over and everything went well. now i'm preparing for my finals in may/june. that''s also why i'm rarely online these days...
my reading is going pretty good. i read all three ACSDAL books, as well as Defy The Night. i really enjoyed the first ASCADAL book, although the sequels fell a bit flat in my opinion. some books i really enjoyed were These Violent Delights (fantastic, it definitely deserves the hype) and The Girl in Red, a dark fantasy horror dystopian mix
what have you been reading lately?
ohh that sounds pretty interesting. did you enjoy it?

good luck for your exams!
ooh what did you think of defy the night?
i've read a lot of books. nearly 40 so far. 👀
yes i really liked that one! i hope you enjoy it.

thank you!
it was really engaging and a quick read, i enjoyed it a lot. looking back though, i would have loved more details on the world, more actual politics and action instead of scenes of tessa in the palace. i haven't rated it yet, but it's a 3 to 4 stars for me :)
it's interesting because i think one of bridgid kemmerer's strengths is writing realistic characters and really go into depth with them. however, in her fantasy books, i felt like she sacrificed some of that so focus on more plot and world-building than in her comtemporaries

totally agree! have you read my review? i have a book playlist for it as well.
yes, BK's strengths are characters and her writing, but her contemporaries are typically better than her fantasies. the fantasy books don't have the same appeal.

ah thanks! i've been binging lots of short books
i plan on reading 50 books, but i think i'll reach that goal pretty soon. 👀
I discovered a new series called Criminal Intentions (The Cardigans), which is pretty good and I think you'll like it! Also read An Elderly Lady Is Up to No Good, The Ivory Key and Icebreaker. I have loads of more recs when you're done with these!

yes i did, it was a great review! ohh, i'll definitely check it out :)
yeah, i also think that she writes better contemporaries than fantasies. that being said, her books are still enjoyable. i think that someone who hasn't read quite as many books as we have and is not as invested in the fantasy genre might like her fantasies a lot more

ah thanks! i've been binging lots of short books and i've been neglecting my studies
..."
at that rate you will surpass your goal by 100 books 👀
i set my yearly goal to 50 too, but i purposely put it lower than what i actually hope/expect to read as it's my final school year and together with starting university in autumn i don't know how much time i will have compared to last year when i read a little over 100 books
ohh Criminal Intentions sounds especially interesting. i will definitely add it to my tbr. although i have know idea when/if i will get to it, considering that my tbr is huge and i just bought 2 new books yesterday 👀

thank you. let me know what you think of the playlist. 💕
agreed! BK has potential but doesn't deliver in her fantasies. i hope she writes more contemporaries soon...

i might, as i've read 47 now 👀
same, i'll be busy this year too so i set a low goal. last year i read 175, but i think i'll do max 100 this year. we'll see.
yesss criminal is good good! and its very diverse, one of the mcs is korean and the other is biracial. and pretty much the entire cast is queer. and its proper, good, genuine rep. haven't seen that kind in a while. i hope you like it. <33

its on my tbr and i need to get to it, but scared of schwab disappointing. 👀✌

wow👀
hmm i mean if you keep going like that it will likely be more but it's always good to be ahead of the plan haha :)
ohh that sounds amazing. i'll definitely tell you what i think of it as soon as i get to it. thank youu <3

tbh i didn't expect to like it as much as i did. it's strength is definitely its atmosphere. it's not particularly plot/action-focused (at least not until maybe the last third of the book) but it manages to pull you in nevertheless. typical v e schwab book in my opinion. but i also think it's not a book for everyone, some people won't like it. i'm curious to see what you think :)
