Ahhh Ishikaaa if you've heard Taylor Swift's song No body, no crime then you've probably gotten a bit spoiled for Rebecca

message 26935: by Ishika (new)

Ishika (owlishish) | 4491 comments So maybe I should start with P&P and read Rebecca after finishing it? I don't know if I'll like classics btw. I'm scared of them.

ananya ྀི (literary_f4iry) | 11107 comments Ishika just be ready that classics are mostly pretty slow paced you should listen to the audiobook so u don't get bored to death like I did when I read Around the World in 80 days

message 26939: by B (new)

B  | 16445 comments I've read p&p, Rebecca and northanger Abby.

If you are new to Austen or want to start classics with Austen then p&p or sense and sensibility is a good place to start.

If you are entirely new to classics I'd not recommended starting with Austen. Her writing is harder to understand and the books are not that focussed on plot. It's more character driven and the entire plot us the romance.

@Ishika I'd recommend stating with middle grade classics like Heidi, Pollyanna, Alice in Wonderland etc. Wait till you are comfortable with classics for Austen.

Rebecca is super slow paced despite being interesting. It takes 50% for the plot to actually start. I wouldn't recommend it if you are entirely new to classics.

@Ananya
Nothanger Abby was amazing! it's my second fab by Austen so far.❤️❤️❤️

Well, it is based on a classic book (I forgot the name). It is about a girl named Estella, who is fun, trouble maker, very different from others... There are two sides of her: Estella, who's good and almost normal and Cruella, who is a sort of mad protagonist we usually love. It includes fashion and designing.

Well, you can browse it if you want.

I just asked because all of my friends are talking about it and I too watching the movie yesterday. I quite liked it. I loved Cruella!
