also, have you read the poppy war? i finished the second book yesterday and i loved it! i would definitely recommend it to you if you haven't read it already although you might wanna check the trigger warnings since it's more adult fantasy and quite violent

Not yet, but I want to soon! Actually the triggers are the reason I haven’t got to it yet. But I will soon enough, when I think it’s the right time. :)

yes, it's definitely important that you're in the right mindset. it's a quite heavy book especially in terms of how warfare and it's aftermaths regarding the general population play out

i rarely watch movies tbh, i prefer shows, but two movies i watched were Moxie, it's about a high school girl making feminist issues public, and Love and Monsters, a post-apocalyptic monster movie but not quite horror, it's interlaced with humour and really not that scary in my opinion

Aah lots of reasons, I’m going to write a review soon.

1. It had SO MUCH info-dumping, the world didn’t make much sense bec of that.

2. There were lots of memories/ flashbacks. First person memories/ flashbacks don’t work for me, they come off as annoying.

3. The characters were stereotypes slightly expanded on. Bree was a good mc, but nick is the goofy sweet character and sel is the brooding mc. The side-characters were irrelevant.

4. The plot was just about bree’s moms death mystery and even that wasn’t interesting. A lot of element sin the plot were continent and this book didn’t need to be so long. The plot twist was good, but apart from that there wasn’t enough substance to the plot.

5. This had tropes I personally don’t like in books. Insta-love, love triangle, stereotypical characters, info-dumping, flashbacks and memories, bland side characters who don’t play a major role/ their only relevance is in regard to the mc etc so this didn’t work for me sadly. :/

I liked the representation and the portrayal of grief. Those were the only things I liked.
