What’s your reading goal? :)

Agatha slid in the shadows, her black cloak tucked tightly around her. She moved swiftly, and if someone saw her, they would not comment. Some would perhaps salute, and she would either give them a nod or ignore them entirely. It wasn’t rare for such things to happen there anyways.
“General Winget.” Someone called from behind her, which caused her to stop.
She fidgeted with the blade in her hand, waiting. Mostly a messenger, an assassin wouldn’t attack now. No assassin would call her name before an attack. That would be foolish.
It was a man who had called her. He was tall, his blue eyes gleaming in the dark. He also surprisingly, wore glasses. Which meant he was either human or a wizard, and she was currently not interested in talking with either. They reminded her too much of a life she had, and a life she could have had if she’d made a different choice.
But she hadn’t, so here she was.
She contemplated turning and walking off, but knew how that would look. General Agatha Winget of the Slayers, walking away from a mortal. Pathetic.
"How may I help you?" Agatha asked, trying to get a better glance at the person in front of her. Slayers had the special ability to see through glammers. Which is why they were Slayers in the first place.
The man panted, as though he had run several miles. Then again, he might have.
"I have a message for you, General." He said, his voice still a bit rugged.
"What is it?" Agatha asked. She couldn’t see any glamour on this man, but she ought to have been able to tell who the person was by now. She'd never had any difficulty with it before.
Agatha bit the inside of the lip, trying to focus. This man had some other kind of glamour, or maybe he wasn’t wearing one at all. But that was unlikely.
The man bowed, and pulled out a scroll from his pocket. Agatha tried to sneak a look, she couldn’t see any signs of magic on his hands. Was he really stupid enough to come here without a glamour? "Here." He said, handing the scroll over.
Agatha peered at the note. She shook her head. "There's no way I'm doing that." She declared.
Sweat dripped from the man's brow. "Please General-"
“No.”
“But General-”
“I said no.”
The man’s shoulders slumped, and she almost felt sorry for him. Almost.
“It’s an order, General. They made me swear. ” He said, his voice quivering slightly.
They made him swear, which meant he’d given a blood oath. She sighed. If she rejected him, he would die.
Another innocent would be dead because of her. She’d lost count by now.
“I was told you would reject it,” The man began. He pulled out another slip of paper from his pocket, and Agatha stared unblinking. “Could you give this to my family when I’m gone?” He asked softly.
Family. The words formed a lump in her throat. Memories flashed in her mind, and she pinched her sleeve to shove them down.
So not only an innocent, but one with a family. Excellent.
She sighed again. “I will consider.”
The man’s face lit up. “Thank you, General.” He said.
Agatha had formed a discussion. This man was stupid. "You do know what this means right?" She said. "It's a ridiculous risk." She was now certain this man was a wizard, because it was unlikely for a human to deliver such an important message.
The man looked away. "Is there really another choice?"
The fifth time. This was the fifth time she got the same proposal. The same request she rejected all this while. Now she supposed it was the time to accept, because if she didn’t this man would die.
Smart move on the messengers part, sending someone with a blood oath. She knew the consequences of the spell very well. Far too well for her liking.
Agatha asked the question she was dreading. "If I agree, what will I get in return?"
"Your camp will be rewarded, and you all will be given anything you wish." The man answered, in a matter of factly manner.
Definitely a stupid wizard. "You misunderstood my question wizard, I asked what will I get in return?"
The man's expression went blank. "I will convey whatever message you wish, General."
"Good." Said Agatha. "What is your name?" The words she would always have to ask.
"Christopher." The man said, and bowed again. "At your service."
She stared at him for a while, trying to remember his face, even though they all blurred into one at the end.
Christopher. Christopher the wizard.
Christopher with blue eyes and black hair and one who wore glasses.
Christopher the stupid wizard.
This one she would remember.
Maybe.
Rest in peace Christopher, she thought numbly.
If the messenger believed sending someone with a blood oath would change her mind so easily, they were wrong.
But she could pretend. Pretending was nice.
Pretending almost felt like real. But it wasn’t real. That was the point.
Agatha smiled. "Well then Christopher, write on."

well, you should just focus on your exams for the time being. then you can do your reviews as a type of relief. wait, when you say 11 reviews pending, are they due on some other site?

Nono. They’re due on gr itself.
This is the reason I’m not starting arcs (and don’t plan to for a long time), as I feel very pressurised to get reviews out on time. I mean no one pressurises me, I pressurise myself...
As in I read the books a few days back, so technically I should write my review. And if I don’t write a review for long, then I forget and fall in review slumps. :(
This probably made no sense.
