(view spoiler)[ OH MY GOSH!! This book is so good. There are so many characters in this book that play such key parts. I have been reading this all day and can't put it down. I think if I'd been thru what Avery has been through in just the first week, I would have said to heck with this, they can have the money. Getting shot at, the paparazzi, the crazy Zara, school, the car chase.. yeah all of that would be way too much. But the thing is, as soon as I think I have it figured out, something happens and I'm back to square one trying to figure out who is trying to kill her. (hide spoiler)]

Enjoying this so much! Although I'm listening to the audible and I have to say the narration isn't my favourite - I'm forever getting confused between Grayson and Jameson, which could have been helped by having their voices a bit different. Even now, I still forget who's who!

I agree with you if I'd been through what Avery's been through I would be a hot mess. Not even a hot mess, just a mess lol. She's holding up so well!

Loved the racetrack back, looking forward to keeping going.

Oh, btw, on the recording I didn't hear properly what... Jameson/Grayson (I really can't remember who's who) calls Avery. I kept hearing Erris, like it was some strange nickname and I was wondering if it was an American shortening for Avery or something weird? Literally JUST worked out that he's calling her 'Heiress'. Makes SO MUCH more sense *facepalm* (hide spoiler)]

I know you've already read this but it CANNOT be Libby; she is the LEAST likely person to have anything to do with all of this and if she turns out to be the 'bad guy' (this is supposedly a Cinderella retelling, so I guess that would make her an ugly stepsister?), then I will be thoroughly pissed off with the whole book. Just the book I needed after a couple of heavier reads, really enjoyed this! (and thank goodness Libby wasn't bad in any way; it would have really pissed me off.)

I didn't think one of the grandsons was trying to kill Avery, but I was convinced that someone else in the house was - just couldn't work out who! I'm glad that she isn't just a 'knife or glass ballerina', that she found her own 'quest' at the end.

Didn't expect Xander's part in all of it! He'd kind of been the Hawthorne son that was least mentioned so it was good he got a real role at the end. Definitely didn't see the twist with Toby and Harry either (hide spoiler)]

And an unexpected cliffhanger! Ugh. I have so many books to read but I'd like to keep on with the trilogy now... I'll see whether you're up for it :)
