hi, @queenie, you are right. I apologize for this.

member of the week is selected based on number of comments, we just filter through the group and gr tells us who has the most comments. I know it's not the best method, and can be unfair but it's convenient as of now as we mods ourselves haven't been active since long, and it's hard to individually monitor each members comments. this is one of the reasons we haven't been doing motws since some time.

when I was more active i generally checked through how active the selected motw was before finalizing and decididing to announce it. (if not me, lorelei did it)

Regardless, intentions and excuses don't really matter here. I'm sorry about this, and promise we'll do better while selecting motw in the future!

Do you have any suggestions on how we can implement this better? any ideas (from anyone) would be welcome. thanks!

We could always make a separate thread where active people put their names in and you use a random name picker online to sort through the active childs :]

that is an interesting way to perceive this and a cool idea. maybe we will implement that in the future. it does mean that people who are active in this group, say once a week, would get the same amount of chance to become motw as the people who are active for much longer periods of time. also, it would just be a lot more time-consuming for us mods and personally, i would like to spend that time working on polls or challenges or whatnot. also, there is the fact that some of the mods are on hiatuses so now might not be the right time to make this change.

either way, i appreciate your suggestion and ill bring it up to the other mods as well!
