Yes

Jane (PS) | 24347 comments Hi everyone

I appear to have not been clear enough on this week's task.

Because the key word I targeted was 'surfing', I wanted the books to be somewhere on the coast - and I opened it up to anywhere on the coast, including places like NYC. So whilst I realise that interior lakes CAN have beaches, the book needs to be coastal.

***edit***

I will also accept islands despite acknowledging that some islands are rather large... Australia as the largest island in the world will NOT count - the setting will still need to be coastal.

I am just trying to get some parameters out there. And my apologies if I don't have a solid grasp on some of the US cities and their location in relation to the coast.

Sometimes I have to google on the run to work out if a location qualifies, so the more information you can give me when you ask a question (to justify a choice) the easier it is for me to give a fair answer.

Tink Magoo is bad at reviews (tinkmagoo) | 1390 comments Hey Jane, would this work from the precis?

"There’s just one catch: they have to go on a company cruise to the Galápagos Islands..."

or not because they're on the ocean for most of it?

Thanks

LaurLa | 5098 comments Hi Jane - just double checking this one works. 18 books into the series, the precis or tags aren't very explicit that the setting is a little island off the coast of Rhode Island because 18 books later it doesn't really need to be explained, yeah? So here is what I found in precis:

"As the lease on his Gansett Island rental comes to an end, he's making plans to return to his “real” life on the mainland."

Yours After Dark (Gansett Island, #18) by Marie Force

It works so long as they hit the islands - just a shelf works so I would think it will be fine.

Jane (PS) | 24347 comments Eugenia wrote: "How about “trapped on a cruise ship?” Would that count?"

No - needs to hit the beach or mainland. If they take off from a port it will work. Just need a shelf/tag :)

Arcs will work so long as they are on GR with a page count 😊

If the book is tagged would Adventure-Romance count, or does it just have to be adventure?

Any tag combo works so long as the meaning doesn't alter from the book having an 'adventure'.

eg Mind-numbing adventure as a tag wouldn't work. (Not that I have ever seen that.)

Not sure - can you find a book with 'adventure' as a tag?

I googled 'misadventure' and it doesn't translate to an adventure so at this stage, no to that book.

I'm going to say 80% should be set in your country. Not sure how you will work this out ~ it will have to be gut feel :)

I read it too long ago to recall the balance of US v overseas, so we'll go with your calc which seems very reasonable :)

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 2042 comments It is a little hard because some of the chapters you are in us for part and overseas in other parts of the same chapter.

Jane (PS) | 24347 comments Week 6

Option 1:
14. Surf GR

Click on the drop-down Browse menu (next to My Books in the top GR banner), click on Explore, click on Romance under the Genres listing on the far right, click on your preferred type of romance (keep refining as wished using the Genre lists).

* Read any of the books that appear on that actual page without clicking further on the lists#, OR read a book by one of the authors that appear on that page. If you select the author option, you many read any book by that author.
# = meaning don't click on the lists at the base of the page and read a book from that list. If it appears on the page though as the part of the list showing, you can read it.

Option 2:
Key date - 9 October 2020
A book on your team mates 'read' list AND rated at least 3 stars and read on or after the key date.

Option 3:
Pass
This can only be used once each 5 weeks. Only one team mate can use this option each week.
