Mr Savage Cushions esq (scushions) | 71 comments Hi everyone

I'm having a hair-tearing moment. I have just downloaded one of Andy's books via Amazon. I wanted to send a message to Andy, but have been informed that the number of words in my 'question' needs to be between 3,458 and 3459, and I must use a question mark, which I find most offensive. To circumnavigate this problem, I have 'cut' the text and intend to paste it here - - - - Hi Andy, in theory, I've just downloaded The House of Clocks from Messrs Amazon UK to my kindle. I say, 'in theory,' because my kindle and I have a love/hate relationship and often I am unable to locate items having downloaded them, which is why I normally buy old fashioned 'paper' books and give them to the Slugs Protection League once I've finished.
I'll let you know if kindle plays ball on this occasion.
Hoping you are staying safe and continuing to write,
All good wishes
Rog

Well, that seemed to work, but now comes the all-important 'post' button. Wish me luck friends.....

Mr Savage Cushions esq (scushions) | 71 comments Hi, me again

As feared, the book has not appeared on my kandle. It's showing as purchased on Amazon, 'The Book of Clocks (Andy Paine short stories)'. I've successfully got other CLOG books in 'my library' but not this one. Any thoughts?

James Court | 228 comments This can happen if you have an elderly kindle, and that dastardly fiend Paine has dared to use the latest format for his quill scratchings. Very old Kindles used a format called mobi, of which there were several versions, but life moves on and the newer ones also accept a format called azw3 which can use the same fonts as the author intended and handle pictures more sensibly. If your steam kindle cannot cope with this heady level of technology then that could be the answer.
But also remember that it's a long way from Aus and kangaroo post was never as reliable as pigeons, even if they could carry more in their pouches.

Mr Savage Cushions esq (scushions) | 71 comments Thanks James - that's so typical of Paine, keeping up with latest versions and understanding things like azw3's and mobi's - what a bastard.
Maybe if I do a search of 'amazon purchase not showing in kindle' or suchlike. Sure it's something very simple to people aged under 20.
