I just..... the trying to choke Harper scene was........ just woah. Such a horrific thing to read, don't think I've ever read anything close to it. Amazingly written by the author!!
finished this book! it was brilliant the choking of Harper was hard reading, I think Verity is an absolute psychopath and if I were Lowen I'd want every bolt on my door at night! the biting of a head board was an absolute F.You to Verity, whatever you did to Jeremy, I can do better kind of thing.
OMG the bit with the choking was horrific! I was almost in tears reading it. My heart was breaking for the poor child. I seriously think Verity is an absolute psychopath but also has a serious case of post natal depression. Having said that I think the way it’s portrayed it definitely seems more psychotic.I don’t think that Jeremy seen what happened on the monitor because I truly believe if he had, he would’ve been through to the room like a shot and would have gone mad at Verity.
I was totally freaking out when Lowen though she say Verity watching. The suspense is really intense now.
The s*x between Jeremy and Lowen was weird - Lowen seems to be really obsessed with Verity. I can’t understand why she would want to copy what she knew Verity did.
This portion of the story was so hard to read. I can't fathom anybody admitting something like that. Those poor kiddos!!The sex scene was good until she bit the headboard.. Like WTF that is weird. Get your own thing!
I couldn’t stop reading this book! It had me so anxious to find out what was going on with Verity! When Lowen saw her standing at the top of the stairs omg it gave me chills! The whole part with Verity trying to choke Harper as a baby was a hard read for sure. I don’t believe Jeremy witnessed it. The autobiography chapters were very intense and psychotic.
I don’t think Lowen was trying to copy Verity during the sex scene, I think it was more of her trying to show her that she was with her husband and a “I can do better than you” type of thing.
Like everyone has said, it was really hard to get through the scene where Verity tried to kill Harper. I can't remember the last time I had such a visceral reaction as I did when I read that part. I don't think Jeremy saw that, because there is no way he would NOT have done something if he had seen it. I have to say that I think Colleen Hoover really showed just what a phenomenal writer she is during this specific part. I have never felt so much hatred towards a fictional character like I did during this scene.
The part where Lowen saw Verity at the top of the stairs definitely freaked me out. However, I have to admit I actually began to think if Jeremy was in on some scheme to drive Lowen crazy.
As far as the biting on the headboard, I first thought why is she trying to copy this psychopath. But then I thought of it more like Lowen is trying to claim the bed and the room as hers. Like Jeremy will now think of her when he is in it... and not Verity.
This scene with Harper was completely disturbing and extremely hard to read. I guess if Jeremy saw this he would've rushed there to save his child.I agree with Nicole, this whole scene just showed us the genius of Colleen Hoover. Not every author could evoke such strong feelings in readers.
Yep, I definitely freaked out when Verity appeared at the top of the stairs! Haha like what is going on?!
And that scene when Lowen started biting on headboard... I think it could be some sort of revenge to Verity. Verity got what was coming to her - she answered for her horrible actions, and now she's just a shell of a person, not as important to Jeremy as she used to be. And now look at Lowen, now it's her in bed with Jeremy, and Jeremy deserves to be with a good human being.
1. Here I was already able to throw the book all the walls when I read this scene. How can you do that? Good heavens! Clearly, Jeremy didn't know what happened, because if he knew the action he would have taken a different turn.2. My opinion about this character is that I am disgusted and shocked. I have a clear revulsion toward her. To me it's dark.
3. .I don't know why, but I expected that to happen when Lowen and Jeremy were together for the first time. And yes, I thought it was a frightening scene.
4. No I don't think so.
5. The first time I read the hot scene between the two, Lowen and Jeremy, I asked myself: Lowen dear you really insane? But if I think more probably wants to show that it's much better than Verity and that Jeremy deserves something better.
Thank the good Lord I’ve never see anyone do something they shouldn’t do to that level! 🙈Verity is so complicated! I don’t ever believe in people being in neat little boxes, people are complicated... so I feel like she is sick! Not good or bad but obviously in need of help. And she’d scare the ever loving crap out of me if I were Lowen lol
FINALLY the hot steamy sex scene...ruined by crazy Verity! Although it was suchhh a worthy interruption for Verity to get caught like that. At least Lowen knows she’s not crazy now!
There’s no way Jeremey saw that on the camera or he would’ve freaked! It we all we losing it reading it, could you imagine being Harper’s father and seeing it!! No way he’d keep his cool.
The sex scene where Lowen basically recreates the one with Verity and Jeremy had me literally being like “don’t you put your teeth where her teeth were” the entire time haha I mean just make new ones damnit! 🙈 ..and then when she did I was wondering if Jeremy would notice the similarities.

Pg 191 right after that horrific scene of Verity trying to kill Harper by shoving her fingers down her throat she mentions how she left the monitor on and Jeremy could have caught her in the act. Without going into TOO much detail have you ever caught someone in the middle of something you shouldn't have saw? Did you confront them? Do you think Jeremy could have saw what happened but couldn't believe he was seeing what he was seeing?
- We see in the next chapter Verity faking her pregnancy, right after trying to harm Harper in the chapter before. What are your thoughts/feeling towards Verity as a character?
- Pg 218 the moment we were all waiting for - the hot steamy sex scene between Lowen and Jermey and then BAM Lowen thinks she saw Verity at the top of the stairs. Are you freaking out, I'm freaking out!
- Pg 228 Do you think Harper killed Chastin? (Ch 18)
- Pg 242 Do you find it odd that Lowen is acting out the exact same sex scene Jermey and Verity had? She even bites down on the head board, right next to Verity's teeth marks.
