I wasn't worried about Kim. She was in a much better frame of mind to go up against Alex this time. At least she knew what Alex was capable of. Kim managed her plan very well...even having a back up plan in case the first part went wrong. But, Kim was ready for her this time.
It was a great plot development for the author to bring back Alex Vs Kim.. round 2!Alex certainly knew how to push Kim's buttons and though Kim did make a few missteps she managed to elude Alex's mental traps by the end and come out the victor again. But through out the story I thought we still saw the damage that Kim's mother has instilled in Kim. Alex did point out quite rightly that till Kim faced it she never would be free of it.. and I think that still stands and hasn't been resolved.
I was terribly worried about Kim because Alex was throwing her off her game and she kept taking the bait. I loved that Bryant intervened, making her step back and think, not react. While Kim was playing catch up for most of it, she was also figuring out how to gain ground and get ahead of her.
It frayed my nerves terribly.
It frayed my nerves terribly.
Alex made me nervous for Kim. She knows how to pull her strings. In the beginning Alex was pushing the right buttons then Kim started to get her act together. I love how Bryant helps her look at the situation rationally. He is a good partner and friend. If I read this book when it was first released, in the back of my mind I would wonder if it was the last book in the series. There are a couple times that I didn't think Kim would get through the book in one piece.
I thought the same thing, Sharon!! Fortunately I knew she’d survive because there are more books in the series😏 But, I thought she’d be really damaged.
