Dakota looked away, ashamed. Eva just nodded. She motioned for Leo to move a little and went over to Dakota, quickly checking for internal bleeding. Usually it wouldn't have been that fast, but she was clearly experienced. She nodded along.
Glancing up, she turned to Leo, smiling brightly. "He doesn't seem to suffer from any internal injuries, luckily. But I'm assuming Felix told you about the physical therapy and staying overnight?" Dakota's eyes widened and he shot up. As soon as he did though, he yelped in pain, but didn't sit back. Eva turned, surprised.
"I- I can't stay here!" he said quickly, and because of his level of volume, his voice was strained. "Eli, he- he-" He started panicking.
((I don't know how to check for that stuff, so- I did my best ;w;))

Eva nodded solemnly. She only seemed surprised for a moment. She raised an eyebrow, but her expression was soft - she was looking at Dakota as if he was a wounded puppy. He shifted uncomfortably. "I can call authorities?" she offered.
Dakota's eyes were as wide as the sun. "N-No! Please! Please don't!" he pleaded, looking absolutely terrified. Then he turned to Leo. "I know he doesn't care about me, Leo. That's the problem," he murmured.

Tears welled up in his eyes, and he shook his head. "N-No! I-" He sighed, and wiped furiously at the tears. "I don't love him...I know I don't. But-" - his voice was barely a whisper - "He needs me. He's alone...He doesn't have anyone right now...Once he can be trusted with somebody else...With-without harming them, I'll leave....I promise." He looked at Leo with an expression that made him look broken. "Please.."
Eva sighed, shaking her head. "I'll be right back. I need to put this information in his file, but I want you two to discuss this. I won't call the police for now, but I highly recommend it," she said softly. And with that, she grabbed her notes and walked out of the room.

The tears overflowed and ran down his cheeks. "Please, Leo!" he cried, grabbing Leo's wrists before he yelped, wincing in pain. He let go, looking down, ashamed. "Please don't call the cops on him. He really does need me. I've been hurt worse, and haven't even gone to the hospital...I was fine eventually..." He was trembling.
"He'd kill me if he knew I admitted it...He could kill me now, if he wanted, but he hasn't. He's lonely..." His breathing was labored, as if talking about this hurt him. "I promise I'll go to you if it happens again, but for right now, I need you to trust me..." His voice was quiet and timid, worried that he was asking too much of Leo. He was stupid, small, weak and pathetic. But he knew when someone needed him. And now was one of those times.

((XD I know. But if the cops do get called on Eli, I have a nice plan for another arch in the plot-))
Dakota looked like he'd been slapped, staring at Leo with wide, shocked eyes. His mouth was open a bit and his tears slid down his cheeks silently. He was taken aback, surprised at Leo's tone and his words. He sat back, string into space absently. He just nodded when Leo apologized, not saying a word.
Eva walked back in, a perky smile on her face. But as soon as she saw Leo and Dakota's expressions, it was gone. "I assume we've reached a conclusion? There's a phone in the lobby." She sighed, looking sad herself. "The good news is, there's no internal bleeding...." she said after a bit, hesitantly. "But we're preparing a cast for Dakota's arm and leg.."
The doctor's words slipped past Dakota, as he wasn't focusing. Eli would struggle when he got arrested, wouldn't he? He could murder so many people, if he wanted to. That thought made Dakota sick. He'd seen the evidence for himself. A twisted and torn body laying before Eli's crumbled form. That was the only time Dakota had ever seen Eli cry. And then right after, there had been a beating, most likely to erase that image.

((Ah, yes. Sadness. My specialty XD))
Eva nodded. "Anything I can do for you boys? Dakota should be staying here, and I've been told you'll be here with him?" she asked Leo. "If you can't, we can always get someone else to.."
Dakota was stuck in his head. He was really trying his best...Didn't they know that? Eli wasn't all bad, he was sure of it. And it's not like he didn't deserve the treatment he got. Eli knew this, and so did he. But Leo didn't. Maybe if he told him...he'd understand? "I murdered my sister..." he whispered, staring into space. It was too quiet for Eva to hear, but the perfect volume for Leo.

((Aw, thank you! XD But please don't die- Also, if you don't mind me asking, why were you packing?))
Eva nodded, then stood there awkwardly for a moment. She jumped, realizing they were talking, and left hurriedly with a quick goodbye.
Dakota flinched, turning to Leo with an expression that made him look guilty and ashamed. He looked like he was about to burst out into a panic attack, but he held that back. "I killed my older sister..." he whispered again, voice shaky. He didn't want to say it again. The idea of it made his stomach clench.

For some reason, something in Dakota snapped. "You don't understand, Leo! I killed her! She didn't do anything! She protected me, and loved me, and I'm a murderer, because of this stupid fucking power! I'll kill anyone who gets close to me, so why not throw me in jail as well!?" he screamed, his voice cracking and breaking near the end. It was a sad sound, one that meant he'd lost all of his anger. That was the first time he'd ever cussed. In his life. He curled up, despite the extreme pain from moving. He sobbed into his knees, the cries wrenching at his heart.
((Yay! How was the afterlife?))
Dakota's eyes widened and he let out a little gasp. He wasn't used to being touched. He was shaking and his sobs ceased for just a moment before he relaxed, clinging to Leo like he was his lifeline. Silent tears slid down his neck and face, and all he could think of was this. Being held and touched and- ....loved.
((Of course! It would be fun!))
A blush spread across Dakota's cheeks and nose like a blanket. He looked down, avoiding Leo's gaze. "I'm sorry...I didn't mean to scream.." he murmured, his voice sore and worn out. It was scratchy now, but he didn't care. He just kept feeling Leo's lips on his forehead. It was a gentle kiss. Did he know his lips were soft?
((Gtg! I might be back in the evening!))

((Any type is good! Explore the possibilities. I'll just give you a quick overview of Dakota's character though (You might not care, so I'm sorry, but whatever XD): He's vulnerable, timid, and kind. He's soft-spoken and hates hurting people. He's a bean. XD))

Dakota's gaze drilled into the bed. He really didn't want Leo to see his face. He stayed silent because no - no he didn't know if Leo would hurt him or not. He wasn't one to lie. Eli seemed like this at first too. He seemed to attract abusive people. Maybe he was just an easy target. That was probably more likely than they liked or needed him.
Dakota blinked, but a small smile crept up on him. He nodded. Holding out his pinky, he blushed a little. He felt like a child, doing that, but it comforted him. Like it was a real promise. Not just words that could easily be downplayed by an 'I'm joking' or 'nevermind.' Like Leo really wouldn't break his promise. Maybe he was childish for it, but it made him feel better either way.

((So, I'll tell you Dakota's current family situation:
He has an older brother, and an older sister who he hasn't seen in six years. He thought he'd killed his sister, when she actually survived and currently thinks he did it on purpose, so she hates him. His brother is currently trying to find Dakota, because he just reunited with their sister. He has no idea if Dakota is dead or not.
Their mother died at childbirth, soon after she had Dakota - that could always be changed, but yeah. Their father was so overcome by grief he started drinking and abused his kids. Memphis - the oldest, who is Dakota's older brother - eventually was able to get everyone to escape safely.))

Dakota giggled a bit. He nodded, gazing at their linked pickies. How could something so small feel so amazing and real? It's like he felt love moving from Leo to him - however cheesy that was. "Powell," he whispered. He didn't usually tell people his last name. "Dakota Powell."
((So- uh...I already started rping with both Leslie and Memphis....;w;))
((You could make him a best friend? I keep planning to do that, but I never get to it- I'll come up with something else if you don't like that idea though?))
((Okay, goodnight! Stay safe!))
Dakota moved into the hug, despite his embarrassment. He nodded, closing his eyes. For some reason, all of the events from the past few days came rushing to him. All of the hurt from Eli. The warmth of going on a date with Leo. The fear from his recent panic attack. All of it. He felt it come back in a wave, crashing against him.
His eyes started to feel heavy, and his limbs rested against Leo's body. He only meant to place his head on Leo's chest for a moment. Just to feel his heartbeat. The steady pound of it. The only thing that seemed calm. Like the soft pat of rain against a windowsill. The next thing he new, he felt rocked to sleep. The crashing ocean was now a calm river. His breathing slowed so it wasn't so strained, and the bright lights of the hospital were now dark to him.

Zorion, with his notoriously bad timing, came sprinting in the door at that moment, right after Dakota and Leo had fallen asleep. He was about to yell, "What happened? Was it that d*ck of a boyfriend you've got?!" but then noticed the two boys sleeping on top of each other and skidded to a halt. He raised an eyebrow. Well, this is new...
The doctor knocked quietly before Leo could say anything and then opened the door. It was a tall woman with short blonde hair. "Hello, my dear," she said, greeting Leo. She turned to Dakota, smiling softly. "Good afternoon. I'm Doctor Evangeline. But you boys can call me Eva." She paused, and then realized the solemn nature of the room. "Excuse me for intruding."
