Lynne Stringer | 344 comments Hi, Farhara! I'm happy to tell you what I read as a kid and teenager for fun, but bear in mind it was a while ago, so they won't be modern novels. I will also mention some modern novels that I enjoy at the moment that possibly might help.

When I was a kid I loved The Famous Five series written by Enid Blyton. I read them many, many times. I also loved The Black Stallion books by Walter Farley. The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis were also favourites, and these in particular might be a good place for you to start. I read the Famous Five books from the age of 8 to 12, the Black Stallion books after that, then the Chronicles of Narnia after that, although the Chronicles are good for a younger age too, so probably from around 10 years old. I just didn't get around to them then. I also enjoyed the Anne of Green Gables series from about 12 onwards, but I wonder if they might be a bit wordy for you.

When it comes to more recent novels, if you're not looking for something too overwhelming, The Hunger Games trilogy is not too indepth so maybe easy for you to grasp. My own trilogy, The Verindon Trilogy, might even work for you, as it's not overly technical or indepth either and so might be okay.

I hope this helps.
