"At Swim, Two Boys" is a wonderful Irish coming of age novel by Jamie O'Neill, and the class of the boys definitely is a major theme.
The Chosen Place, The Timeless People This is by Paule Marshall. It is set on a Caribbean Island. Not only is the island divided by the haves (British wannabes) and have nots (the working class) but with the addition of two Americans a sociologist and his Main Line Philadelphia wife. Well told.
North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell is a great book about the class divisions in Victorian England. It reminds me of Pride and Prejudice but it's more realistic.
