Heather Peters | 18 comments I wanted to really like this book. Our main character is a strong, smart, and capable female who is set on stealing the crown through devious acts. The King starts out looking very domineering and incapable of love. But quickly everything starts getting all mushy with feelings and the edge of the story is blunted and just begins battering details over your head. I rolled my eyes a lot throughout the story but I'm not sure it is because I recognized the cliches or if it was really so transparent. I am not sure if students would relish this tale or laugh at it.

2.5/5

Lisa Boatman | 10 comments I started out not liking this one. At first, Alesandra just wants the power the king can give her. She's very cold and hard. But as the story progresses, she starts to have real feelings for him and becomes a more likeable character. Sure, there's no real surprises in the story and you can see the plot changes coming a mile away, but I still enjoyed it, and I think teens will, too. I also like that this is a stand alone novel and everything was wrapped up neatly by the end. 4/5

Jill Henson | 15 comments 5/5!
Almost immediately, I fell in love with Alessandra and Kallias! I would love to follow the lives of these two indefinitely. I never read reviews on books before I read them and I now see that some people did not like this book. Why the heck not?! It was adventurous, mysterious, laugh out loud funny at times, and just the right amount of romance! If I could give The Shadows Between Us more than five stars I would! I so hope she has other books that are the same style. If she does, then I have found another favorite author!

Sandra Hooper | 5 comments I really could not get past the fact that the main character committed murder and got away with it. I could not recommend this book to anyone. 0/5
